Here we are again for our weekly event invented by Shanah @bionicbookworm

Topic of the day: Top 5 books that have been on my TBR the longest

OK here praise for Goodreads as I simply went back to my “books I want to read” and chose 5 of the oldest and not yet read ones!

1.Return to Poughkeepsie by Debra Anastasia

I loved the first book so I don’t really have an explanation as to why I haven’t read this one yet. I guess I’m not in the mood anymore…

Synopsis:

Beckett Taylor is a murderer. His calling, his craft are destruction and intimidation—whether he wants it that way now or not. He left Poughkeepsie to keep his brothers safe, to keep Eve safe. Set up with happy lives to live, they’re better off without him, right? But all his willpower crumbles when he hears his brother Blake’s frantic voice on the phone. An unknown enemy has moved in on his old territory, and Livia’s been taken. In an instant, Beckett knows it will take an attack only he and Eve can execute to bring her back. All his self-imposed embargoes are torn to shreds, perhaps along with the new man he’s struggled to become.

“Brother, call Eve. I’ll be there soon.”

In this emotional and action-packed sequel to Poughkeepsie, Debra Anastasia conjures a tale of love at its most raw and ragged. With Beckett and Eve, how could we expect anything less? But even when it’s messy, not magical, true love perseveres. Real love finds a way—for better or for worse until death does part.

2.The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater

I have read and loved the first book in this series and don’t really know why I haven’t read it yet. I guess because the series was not finished when I began and when the second book was out I was busy with other reads.

Will I finish the series one day? Probably as I love Maggie’s writing.

Synopsis:

The second installment in the all-new series from the masterful, #1 NEW YORK TIMES bestselling author Maggie Stiefvater!

Now that the ley lines around Cabeswater have been woken, nothing for Ronan, Gansey, Blue, and Adam will be the same. Ronan, for one, is falling more and more deeply into his dreams, and his dreams are intruding more and more into waking life. Meanwhile, some very sinister people are looking for some of the same pieces of the Cabeswater puzzle that Gansey is after…

3.Out of Breath by Rebecca Donovan

I know why this one is still on my TBR. I was really mad at the heroine! She did all she could to destroy her relationship and demean herself. I really wanted to slap her hard!

Will I read it one day?

Probably never I’m still angry.

Synopsis:

Emma leaves Weslyn and everyone in it behind to attend Stanford University, just as she always intended. A shell of her former self, she is not the same girl. She is broken, and the only way that she’ll be whole again is through forgiveness. Emma must find a way to forgive herself and recognize her own worth before she can receive the love she deserves. This final installment will have readers holding their breath until the very last page.

4.Epilogue by CJ Roberts

It’s Caleb’s intake in this twisted sinful but Oh so gooood! Series.

It sits proudly on my TBR waiting for some calm moment (ha! Who am I kidding? It’s never relaxed in Sophie’s house) to be savored.

Synopsis:

I’m writing this because you begged. You know how I love the begging. In fact, you probably know too many things and know them far too well. Who am I? Well, that’s what I’m trying to figure out. I was a whore in my youth, a killer since my adolescence, and a monster as a man. I am the man who kidnapped Livvie. I am the man who held her in a dark room for weeks. But, most importantly, I am the man she loves. She loves me. It’s quite sick, isn’t it? Of course, there’s more to our story than can be surmised in a few short sentences, but I’m at a loss for justifying my behavior back then. I assume if you’re reading this, I don’t need to make those justifications. You’ve already made your own. You’re reading this because you want to know about the rest of the story. You want to know what happened that warm summer night in September of 2010, the night I met Livvie at The Paseo. It was the night my life changed all over again. It didn’t happen exactly as Livvie said. She’s been very kind to me in the retelling of our story. The truth is far more…complicated.

5.Teardrop by Lauren Kate

I loved the Fallen series and logically added Teardrop on my TBR. Only… there was mixed reviews and I guess I did not dare read it.

Will I read it one day? Let’s just say that Maggie Stiefvater and CJ Roberts would come first.

Synopsis:

Seventeen-year-old Eureka won’t let anyone close enough to feel her pain. After her mother was killed in a freak accident, the things she used to love hold no meaning. She wants to escape, but one thing holds her back: Ander, the boy who is everywhere she goes, whose turquoise eyes are like the ocean. And then Eureka uncovers an ancient tale of romance and heartbreak, about a girl who cried an entire continent into the sea. Suddenly her mother’s death and Ander’s appearance seem connected, and her life takes on dark undercurrents that don’t make sense. Can everything you love be washed away?

  1. I loved the fallen series and yeah, Teardrop has a lot of mixed reviews that’s why I never gave it a shot. The Raven Cycle didn’t worked out for me but I’m planning to give it another chance.

  2. Only 5 this week?! I’m proud of your restraint! LOL! Great list! A few of those I’ve never heard of but now I might have just added a couple to my TBR – the cycle never ends!
    Thanks again for participating!

    1. Thank you Shanah I’m proud too LOL And yes the curse of the never ending TBR. We see friends loving something that could please us too and we add it. We really need 10 lives like cats to read all the books that we have planned LOL
