Today’s Top 5 Tuesday is about your favorite couples in books. I must confess when I read Shana’s topic (she is the one organizing this incredibly fun weekly meme at bionicbookworm) I was really perplex? A ship? As in a vessel? What did she mean????

I was doomed as I don’t read many books if any with ships in it.

Yes now I see you laugh at the clueless girl. Laugh all that you want it’s good for the health. I’m happy I made you healthier and happier today.

Seeing my fellow bloggers posts  I quickly got that it was a figure of speech and that the topic was about favorite lovers… I was SO relieved!

Here are my choices for the day: 5 YA and 5 Adult/NA each time with either an excerpt of my thoughts either a quote… or both!

Young Adult

Shazi and Khalid in The Wrath and the Dawn by Renee Ahdieh

Shahrzad was meant to die, like all the other girls before her. She lasted one night, two nights… he did not want to keep her. He would order her assassination but… saved her at the last moment. My heart raced like a horse reading that particular scene as I experienced Shahrzad’s desperation, her struggle when faced with death. This scene was a turning point in Khalid’s life, as the kiss in the souk was for Sharhzad.

“There are no excuses for what happened this morning. I want you to—” “Where were you?” Shahrzad tried to control the tremor in her voice. “Not where I should have been.” “This morning and last night.” His breath fanned on her skin as he bent toward her ear. “This morning, I was not where I should have been. Last night, I was not where I wanted to be.” Shahrzad tilted her face upward, and her eyes grew wide at what she saw. His hands tightened at her waist. He lowered his head and pressed his brow to hers, his touch as soft and gentle as a whisper. “My Mountain of Adamant.”

And so began their story but Shahrzad also hid a dreadful secret. What would Khalid do once he discovered her treason? Would he forgive her? What kind of spell did Shahrzad cast upon the boy king?

“What are you doing to me, you plague of a girl?” he whispered. “If I’m a plague, then you should keep your distance, unless you plan on being destroyed.” The weapons still in her grasp, she shoved against his chest. “No.” His hands dropped to her waist. “Destroy me.” The bow and arrow clattered to the ground as he brought his mouth to hers. And there was no turning back. She was drowning in sandalwood and sunlight.”

Feyre and Rhysand in ACOTAR series by Sarah J Maas

“If you were going to die, I was going to die with you. I couldn’t stop thinking it over and over as you screamed, as I tried to kill her: you were my mate, my mate, my mate.”
Sarah J. Maas, A Court of Mist and Fury

Poppy and Rune in A Thousand Boy Kisses by Tillie Cole as they ware tragic and so right.

I just said :”Infinite stars…

 photo 40c37a0f-801e-4be5-af68-29d1f05e7ab4_zpsd9seepsb.jpg

I’ve never cried so much over a book.

I have no words…

Tillie, right now I hate you and I love you just as fiercely.“

Juliette and Warner in the Shatter Me series by Tahere Mafi

You also discover a more human Warner and I could not stay indifferent to him. Even feeling compassion for him and at the same time being torn, like Juliette, knowing it’s the same guy who’s been torturing Adam. What a knot of conflicting emotions! Poor me, it was like a roller coaster.

Kestrel and Rin in The Winner’s Curse by Marie Rutkoski

Coming from two different universes, one from and enslaved nation and the other from the conqueror, Arin and Kestrel will learn to know each other and surpass these prejudices.
Romeo and Juliet from a lost time, their uneasy friendship evolves into forbidden love. Slave and master, conqueror and conquered.

Adult/New Adult

Sawyer and Darlene form Forever Right Now by Emma Scott

“Do you ever wish you could take a moment and keep it forever? Like right now…how you taste on my mouth, and your hands on me, and your eyes…God, Sawyer, the way you’re looking at me… If I could have just one moment, one feeling, and live in it forever, I would choose this one.”
Emma Scott, Forever Right Now

Jav and Finch in A Charm of Finches by Suanne Laqueur

“Jav and Stef’s love story was just …moving.

I never thought I would read something as romantic as this budding romance. This seduction dance when you’re at the beginning of something great but too shy to hope and sometimes clumsy.

They are big men for God’s sake so why am I sighing as if I was witnessing Prince Charming kissing Sleeping Beauty???? Oh yes that’s right because when Suanne writes things like this:

Stef hesitated.

“You want to come in?” Still leaning on the steering wheel, Jav looked at him. His eyes shining under the strong brows, fringed with thick lashes. “Maybe someday,” he said. His full lips parted in that shy smile, and Stef’s own heart curled inward, hiding behind his ribs, just as bashful.”

Of course you will swoon!
But it’s more than swoon worthy. It’s deep, it’s solid (no, no take your mind out of the gutter…or maybe not 😉 ) it’s healing, it’s…”

Ox and Joe in Wolfsong by TJ Klune

“When Joe met Ox for the first time: He shook his head. “No, no, no. It’s something bigger.” He walked toward me, his eyes going wider. Then he was running. He wasn’t big. He couldn’t have been more than nine or ten. He collided with my legs, and I barely took a step back. He started climbing me, hooking his legs around my thighs and pulling himself up until his arms were around my neck and we were face to face. “It’s you!” I didn’t know what was going on. “What’s me?” He was in my arms now. I didn’t want him to fall. He took my face in his hands and squished my cheeks together. “Why do you smell like that?” he demanded. “Where did you come from? Do you live in the woods? What are you? We just got here. Finally. Where is your house?” He put his forehead against mine and inhaled deeply. “I don’t get it!” he exclaimed. “What is it?” And then he was crawling up and over my shoulders, feet pressed against my chest and neck until he clambered onto my back, arms around my neck, chin hooked on my shoulder. “We have to go see my mom and dad,” he said. “They’ll know what this is. They know everything.” He was a tornado of fingers and feet and words. I was caught in the storm. (…) “Mom! Mom. You have to smell him! It’s like… like… I don’t even know what it’s like! I was walking in the woods to scope out our territory so I could be like Dad and then it was like… whoa. And then he was all standing there and he didn’t see me at first because I’m getting so good at hunting. I was all like rawr and grr but then I smelled it again and it was him and it was all kaboom! I don’t even know! I don’t even know! You gotta smell him and then tell me why it’s all candy canes and pinecones and epic and awesome.””

Eva and Angelo in From Sand and Ash by Amy Harmon

“Love had not made them poor. Love had made them wealthy. In that moment, they were royalty, a king of fortune and a queen of destiny, embracing a tiny prince of peace.”
Amy Harmon, From Sand and Ash

Imi and Yoss in One Day Soon by A. Meredith Walters

More than anything else, he did not want to taint Imi. She was pure and innocent and he wanted to shelter her. Imi fell in love with the wonderful boy but she struggled with what he did. She was very conflicted because he sacrificed himself to protect her and she was ashamed to feel disgust for what he did.
” I didn’t want to lose what I felt for Yoss. It was good. It was pure. It was the only light in this dark, horrible world. I was terrified that if I did feel differently, what that would say about me.”

Yoss is truly one of the most beautiful characters I’ve ever met in a book. He was so strong and so broken at the same time. I wanted to take him in my arms and protect him from this ugly world, like he did for Imi. You can’t not love Yoss. He was a very beautiful person. My heart broke each and every time he had to “go out” as it destroyed him little by little but he did it nonetheless, not only to survive but to provide food and clothes for his friends and, above all else, to protect Imi the best way he could.
”Here was a boy barely holding himself together. He seemed as though he wanted to curl into himself. I wanted to shield him from everything horrible. Everything ugly. Just as he had been trying to do for me.”

This is my list for today!

Now tell me what are the couples who swept you off your feet in an incredibly romantic way?

Thanks for reading and Happy Tuesday!
