Hi friends!

I think Shanah @bionicbookworm must have thought of me when she chose today’s topic for our top 5 Tuesday! The top romances for a romance reader! I feel like a kid on Christmas!

So of course I decided to overlook the pesky rule of 5 bests and go for one favorite by trope! Fair right? And you’ll get a quote for each book!

OK get comfy, take a pen and a notebook and prepare to be wooed! 😉

Forbidden romance : Forbidden by Tabitha Suzuma (will change your life forever)!

“At the end of the day it’s about how much you can bear, how much you can endure. Being together, we harm nobody; being apart, we extinguish ourselves.”
― Tabitha Suzuma, Forbidden

M/M romance: Someday, Someday by Emma Scott (this is a true love story!!!! Silas + Max = Forever)

“Silas Marsh walked straight into that room like the answer to a question I hadn’t known I’d been asking. A strange thought had battered itself around my heart: There he is.”

Historical romance: Where the Lost Wander by Amy Harmon (just …gorgeous and epic and true and honest and ….)

“John does not flirt. He doesn’t say pretty, empty things. He listens, soaking everything in. John’s a doer. An observer. And his thoughts, when he shares them, are like little shoots of green grass on a dry prairie. The flowers on the prickly pears that grow among the rocks.”

Enemies to lovers : From Lukov with Love by Mariana Zapata (and the banter was excellent)

“We both know you love me.” I wanted to deny it. I really did. Mostly because I hated the fact that he sounded so smug. But we both knew I’d be lying. Maybe I’d never said the words, but he knew. Like he’d known about my learning disability but never said anything. Like he knew chocolate was my weakness and fed it to me when I needed it most.”
― Mariana Zapata, From Lukov with Love

Epic romance : Mists of the Serengeti by Leylah Attar (it was magnificent!)

“You and me . . . we’re too grand, too magnificent to fit into ordinary. I love you, Jack. It’s big love. Huge. I can’t stuff it in a letter or an email. I’m not okay with that. I’m not an okay girl. I’m an all or nothing girl.”

Dark and twisted romance : Once a Myth by Pepper Winters (the darkest and most twisted she’s written so far)

“There was something…something ruthless and savage about him. Something instinctual that sensed predator from prey and firmly put him in the category of dangerous. But beneath that savage suaveness, something smoothed the merciless edges, granting a strange kind of enigma. Cold and hot. Immune and unprotected. He wasn’t as invincible as he appeared.”

Fantasy/PNR : A Court of Thorn and Roses series by Sarah J Maas (Rhysaaaaaaaand)

Rhysand

“If you were going to die, I was going to die with you. I couldn’t stop thinking it over and over as you screamed, as I tried to kill her: you were my mate, my mate, my mate.”
― Sarah J. Maas, A Court of Mist and Fury

Childhood sweetheart and small town romance: The Sweet Gum Tree by Katherine Allred (still unbeaten in that category)

“I promise you this. I’ll love you until the day I die even if I have to live without you. And if it’s fifty years from now, you come home, Nick Anderson. Do you hear me? I’ll be waiting on you.”
― Katherine Allred, The Sweet Gum Tree

Impaired hero: Archer’s Voice by Mia Sheridan (Archer was so innocent and luminous and ….)

“I’m afraid to love you. I’m afraid that you’ll leave and that I’ll go back to being alone again. Only it will be a hundred times worse because I’ll know what I’m missing. I can’t…” He sucked in a shaky breath. “I want to be able to love you more than I fear losing you, and I don’t know how. Teach me, Bree. Please teach me. Don’t let me destroy this.”
― Mia Sheridan, Archer’s Voice

Sportsromance : The Hook Up by Kristen Callihan (my first by her but damn perfection!)

“Anna, baby, you would never be the girl I didn’t see, whether we had met now or in high school.” He pulls me in close, rubbing his nose along the tip of mine. “Don’t you understand? I know you wouldn’t be because, since the moment I laid eyes on you, you’re all I can see.”
― Kristen Callihan, The Hook Up

So how was that for a list hu? Spotted any you’d fancy? What are your favorites?

Thanks for reading!

  1. You know I am a big romance reader but I tend to stick to the same authors. I do want to work on branching out and some of the ones to try are on this list as well such as Pepper Winters, Amy Harmon and Mariana Zapata!

  2. I love that you included Where the Lost Wander! And ACOMAF! *screams and flails* And Archer’s Voice… I just want to cry thinking about the preciousness that is Archer Hale.

  3. This is a great list, I haven’t read many of these here but some I have read. I did really love the Hookup…so good. I have Where The Lost Wander on my kindle. I can’t wait to read it.
