Hi friends,
Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Today’s theme is Online Resources for Book Lovers (what websites, podcasts, apps, etc. do you use that make your reading life better?).
Ok this week’s topic is hard for me as I don’t rely on that many online resources but ...I decided to twist it a bit!
First, I’d love for you to read Lindsey ‘s intake of this topic because she has amazing ideas on how to improve Goodreads! Read her post here:
http://www.lindseyh.be/2021/10/7-features-i-wish-goodreads-would-implement-or-improve-upon/
My main classic online resource for books is Goodreads so this was quite fitting 😀
Now, about this twist I was talking about…my main current online resource where I find my next reads is…Instagram! Or rather Bookstagram! I guess seeing beautiful pictures of books and big smile raving about this or that book is the perfect way to sell some story to me 😀
I decided today to give you ten books that I read because of bookstagram. Ten books I loved so much that I think you too should read them! 😉
Mary Jane was a book that I read on Corina @thebrowneyedbookworm. It ended up being a 6 stars! One of my favorites this year. Corina is also on WordPress and you can find her here: https://thebrowneyedbookworm.com/
The Black Witch Chronicles was an instant hit with me and I devoured all three published books in less than two weeks! It was recommended to me by Shaun @lonely_reader
A Discovery of Witches by Deborah Harkness has become one of my favorite series and the person who convinced me to read it was Bex @mummyisreading
From Blood and Ash and The House in the Cerulean Sea were both books that got raving reviews on Instagram as a whole. These are tow of my favorite books this last year!
Stalking Jack The Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco is also a favorite series since I read it at the beginning of this year. Why did I wait so long to read it? Thomas Cresswell and Audrey Rose are two amazing characters and the banter is fantastic!
Gild was all over Instagram but the one who convinced me to read it was @tata.lifepages with a hilarious reel!
Crave and all the books published in that series became a new addiction and I have @beauty_in_books17 to blame for it 😀
The Guncle is another hit that has been pushed on me after seeing it on Corina’s feed…again!
I pre ordered The Rose Code as soon as I saw it on…Kate Quinn’s account!
Thanks for reading!
Ohh all the pretty covers!!
I kinda feel like Mary Jane should be related to daisy and the six ?? Isn’t one of the cover of that one with a vinyl & letter similar to that?
A millions times yes to FBAA. And I’ve been meaning to read A Discovery of Witches, she was one of my bestie’s husband’s teachers LOL! It’s on my tbr and I was wanting to pick it up around fall time, so fingers crossed!
Thanks for the shoutout 🙂
Also, I also discovered The House in the Cerulean Sea thanks to Instagram and I’m so happy I did 🙂
I have the Rose Code on my TBR right now as well. I’m hoping to read it in the coming months.
I can’t wait to read your review Alex!
I love Instagram too! Although I follow lots of non bookish accounts as well
The non bookisha ccounts I follow are shops and artists (graphic artists Tammy ;-))
I’m not on Instagram much these days but when I was using it, I definitely got some pretty good book recs from there.
It’s my doom Suzanne :-)))
I want to read more witch books 🙂
I love that you were so inspired to read all these books. I don’t spend that much time on IG, but other bloggers definitely made me read The Guncle (you included)
Ha! I am happy to hear that Sam 🙂
I don’t spend enough time on Instagram to get book rec’s, but I do have the audio of The Guncle on hold at my library. I’m looking forward to that one.
I hope you’ll love it Tanya!
I really need to read Gild! I have been seeing so much about it
I really hope you’ll love it!!!
