Today is Sunday time to look back in the rearview mirror and talk about my week .Β I am linking up to the Sunday Post hosted for years byΒ Kimberly@caffeinatedreviewerΒ .Β

In my private life

Well it was back to work week!

Not much to tell on that front except that work has finally cooled down so I enjoyed a smooth and more relaxed return. I know I must make the most of it because it will soon be back to its usual madness!

My mom complained that she had no holiday (I technically could reply that she is non stop on holiday as she is retired but…) and I decided to invite her go watch Barbie to change her routine!

We had a good time and the movie was not what I expected at all!

Congrats to Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling who made a stellar performance in what was a weird mix of satyre/society study/woman emancipation/I don’t know???

Then yesterday, I watched Red, White and Royal Blue on Amazon Prime. I was so excited as I loved the book and I must say that it was not a bad adaptation!

The actors did a great job portraying Alex and Henry. The story was true to the book. I just wished that the friends and family support that we got to read a lot about in the book would have been more present here too but hey, you can’t put everything in a movie I guess!

Aside from these news, nothing special to report except that we finally have some sun! But I don’t want to jinx it…

Last week on Instagram, I made several reels and one of them is a recap of all the edges I have painted since I began ten months ago.

I have had a lot of fun painting all these books and I won’t stop now as I am still learning a lot!

And just to make you laugh, a funny reel featuring what people think I must be reading versus what I am really reading!

On the blog this week (click on the graphic to read the text)

Being back to work meant that I was a little lazy on the blog and only posted one review BUT I already have five more to post…

That’s it!

Thanks for reading!

Sophie

  1. I do need to watch both movies!! Although I still havent read RWRB yet oh my mother is the same way ahah- she always talk like she’s on holiday with us, when we are the only two working with my father. (My mom also never stop.. throw herself into cleaning and etc so, fair.)

  2. Nice that you took your mom out to see Barbie. My daughter went and was disappointed, said it wasn’t what she expected. I’ll probably wait until it comes to streaming somewhere. Have a wonderful week, Sophie!

  3. I saw Barbie this week too! The little dude came with me and we both enjoyed it but, like you said, it wasn’t what we expected!!
I love your painted edges! I have zero artistic talent (and my book hoarding doesn’t extend to personalising, annotating or limited edition anything, lol) so I don’t try but I do like looking at them. πŸ™‚

  4. What did your mom think of Barbie? I have not seen it myself, but I am curious what someone from an older generation thinks. I heard it targeted to the millennials/gen Z. I read a review for RW&RB which was good, but they said Uma Thurman was miscast.

  5. Even though Barbie is the mega hit of the summer, I feel like the one and only person who has zero interest in seeing it. lol I’d love to see RW&RB but I guess I’ll have to get Prime Video for that happen. It looks amazing and I’d love to see Alex and Henry come to life. πŸ™‚

  6. Went to see Barbie too but didn’t fully wake up until some time into the movie, when it became interesting. I know at least one person who has seen it three times and contemplating a fourth. I’d see it again since I was half asleep the first half hour.
