Today is Sunday time to look back in the rearview mirror and talk about my week . I am linking up to the Sunday Post hosted for years by Kimberly@caffeinatedreviewer .

In my private life

Happy Sunday!

I am sure by now that my title has intrigued you!

Well it’s quite simple really, on Thursday afternoon my mom had a huge allergic reaction (we don’t know what provoked it) and she had her lips so swollen you’d think it was a bad botox trip!

No wrinkles left on my 83 years old mom! Worst: her cheeks swelled so much that she looked just like a hamster after he has stuffed a lot of nuts or seeds in its mouth!

We were so afraid that her throat would swell to that I asked her to stay with us for the night.

After some anti histamine and a lot of ice, the day after, she had officially gone from hamster to weasel.

She told me she had never been so happy to see her wrinkles again!

And if my “mom episode” was not enough, I had to rush to the vet yesterday at 11 PM because my dog was peeing blood every five minutes!

After some medicine and a diagnosis of cystitis, she is now feeling way better and I could rest at night instead of waking up every five minutes to open the door!

These events aside, my week was great and uneventful.

As usual, here are two (hopefully funny) reels that I made.

The first is a silent review of Fourth Wing and as I can’t mime to save my life, I had to get creative !

And the second one is about not feeling guilty for being addicted to books!

On the blog this week (click on the graphic to read the post)

I managed to write three reviews this week and it’s been an odd mixed bag! From an unpopular opinion to a book that will certainly be in my “top of 2024” by the end of the year!

Unpopular opinion: how to use many words to have a stagnant story.

Book box review here and good surprise for that atmospheric read!

And then the BIG CRUSH this year! I know Sam will agree with me ;-)

Thanks for reading!

  1. I guess you never found out what set off your mom’s allergic reaction? How scary. Something similar happened to my daughter when she was little, but it was after she ate a whole carton of strawberries. I’m glad both she and the dog are fine

  2. How scary for your mom! I’d be worried about her airway too! I’m happy she’s back to normal now.

  3. Good to hear everything with your mom and dog was okay in the end. Phew.
I read the synopsis of Ready or Not and nothing drew me to it and yet you have given it a glowing review. Am I missing something? I probably am.
