Synopsis

Note: Please can we avoid using quim or cunny in sex scenes? And have better editing to spot bad grammar?
I have loved the Savoie sisters series by Juliette Cross, full of banter and great sibling interaction. When I saw Juliette Cross new book and that gorgeous new cover I immediately ordered the physical book.
What I found was nothing like the Savoie sisters series.
Lacking the banter and humor, this has a somber tone.
The stakes are high as the light fae kingdom is suffering from a plague. The new Wraith King offered peace in exchange for the light fae princess. She will give him an heir.
Arranged marriage, prophecies, plagues, hidden enemy and hot sex scenes make for the backbone of the story.
Una is your conventional good and caring female main character, determined to save her people.
Goll is the dark and broody hero, possessive male and extremely powerful.
I guess that if I had read that book five years ago when I was into my romance era, I probably would have given a higher rating.
If it wasn’t a bad book, it also didn’t stand out. It felt too superficial to me. And the pet peeves mentioned at the beginning dampened my enjoyment.
Will I read the sequels? Honestly no.
Yet as already said, it was not the book, it was a me problem. Maybe I got a romance burn out and only the extremely well written or unusual or.. keep my attention these days.
But as my friend Micky is saying my yak can be your yay so read other reviews and decide if this could be your yay!
NB: also know that there is one sex scene that was very questionable to me, consent wise…

So, the first thing I did was google those words. The Brits do have some interesting lingo. Anyhow, I am sorry this one didn’t work for you. It’s always extra disappointing when it’s an author you have enjoyed in the past too.
