Hi friends,

It’s already Sunday again time to meet and chat about what’s happened this week in my life and on the blog. As usual I am linking back to The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @caffeinatedreviewer .

In my private life first

Well not much happened this week as Fall is upon us with cooler temperature, rain and various seasonal sickness hitting many of us!

I’ve had a headache for two days now and it leaves me exhausted and barely able to blog but …it’s not life threatening so I’ll survive!

Now something ironical: my daughter is now at university in her dorm during the week as many of you know. She claims that she is adultย  and that she loves being independent. If this is a good thing it stings when she becomes all condescending on us like many teenages/young adults can be with their parents.

BUT

This week she called me as she was feeling really sick and ill. Huge headache, vomiting, pains everywhere etc. I asked her if she wanted me to bring her back as she was so down on the telephone. She refused saying she would miss too many classes the day after and that she wanted to sleep on it and see if she didn’t feel better in the morning. And then, in a tiny desolate voice, she added: “But I am always feeling better when you are with me mom.”

Aaaaw!

Seems to me that whatever their age, kids will always need their mom when they have problems or feel low!

Luckily, the day after she was much better after having taken the medicine I advised ๐Ÿ˜€ย

Now let’s get to my title!

After the last Top 5 Tuesday many of you were curious to hear my voice and my accent so I thought I would oblige because once, I was recorded on a Podcast made by my friend Danielle @prettymessreading who lives in Florida with my other blogger friend Ramona who is Romanian so…

Here is the link to the podcast and if you don’t want to listen to all of it I begin talking about 3 minutes in the recording.

Sorry for the “blanks” or mistakes or hesitations it was completely live and I had no notes to look at, so just …improvising!

On the blog this week (click on the picture to read the post)

I have reviewed two books.

The first one is a fantastic romcom with a very lovable and refreshing main character: Dorothy Mayhem! I really had a blast reading this last book of Jewel E Ann and recommend it wholeheartedly if you want a light but smart book! 4,5 stars

The second review is about a historical fiction in audiobook. The Huntress is the second book by Kate Quinn that I’ve listened to and is a really wonderful story happening duting and after WWII. 5 stars and highly recommend it as the narrator is excellent!

This week for our Top 5 Tuesday, Shanah asked us our top booktubers. As I don’t follow booktubers aside one I had to put a spin on the weekly topic and explained the top reasons why I would never be a booktuber!

And this week’s discussion topic asked if we need to be loud/brash/original to be a good book blogger.

On the blogosphere and in the literary world

I love the sound of that quiz!!!! It’s about villains and Epicreads asks us how wicked of a YA supervillain we would be!!! And my result is:

“Consider yourself officially #blocked

You might not be set on world domination, but your betrayal ran just too deep to come back from.” Insert madย  cackling laughter here! ๐Ÿ˜ˆ

And I know it was difficult to blog hop this week but I will leave Marie’s post about the things we should know if we want to be a book blogger!

8 things you need to know about book blogging

That’s it!

Now tell me how was your week?

Thanks for reading.

Sophie

  1. I am so sorry to hear that you have had a rough painful week….but that moment with your daughter is so cute!!! Just gives you all the warm fuzzies!! Probably the best thing to hear as a mother. Hope you have a beautiful shining day.

  2. Awwww your daughter was adorable, I hope that she will be all better soon! <3 and it's so exciting that you were in a podcast, how fun! Thank you for sharing – maybe that will be something recurrent, from now on, who knows, if you ever feel like chatting again…. always here to listen! ๐Ÿ˜€
Thank you so, so much for sharing my post!! <3
    I hope you'll have a wonderful week <3

    1. Thank you Marie! I don’t think the podcast will be something recurrent but it was a new experience, exciting and a chat between friends so it was really enjoyable! And you are most welcome!

  3. I actually said “AWW” out loud at the story from your daughter. My grandmother is the same way. She has the hardest time letting me be independent and make my own way, and any time I call her up for advice or ask her to bake me something (grandmothers do it best!!) … I can see a special light in her eyes.

Hhaha, I can’t see you being a wicked villain though, Sophie. You’re too nice!!

    1. Why Sha you are too nice! But yes I am a sweet person but I thought doing the test “OK let’s play the villain all the way” LOL

  4. Cool beans about the podcast! And aw, that story about your daughter made me smile. It’s nice to know even when they are all grown up they still need and want mom – moments like that would fill me with a sense of parental pride and warmth ๐Ÿ™‚

    1. That’s what happened to me Mogsy! On the one hand I was feeling so bad for her as I wanted to take her pain but on the other hand I was just melting like a puddle of goo!

  5. It’s so nice when your kids finally get to the age where they actually appreciate you! Love your accent Sophie! ๐Ÿ™‚

  6. So sweet of your daughter to say that. Kids still need their moms… even when theyโ€™re โ€œgrown up.โ€ ๐Ÿ™‚ How fun to hear you on the podcast! Your accent is lovely. I think I would have guessed your were French just by the accent. Hope that headache is gone by now!

  7. Awww. It’s nice when your kids acknowledge how awesome you are. How fun to do a podcast chat! You’re awesome! I am beyond excited that I came home to fall weather. I was dancing a little jig, when I saw all the posts about how hot it was here last week, when I was wearing my cozy sweater up there in Canada.

    1. Haha Sam thank you you are too kind ๐Ÿ˜‰ I’ll never be a famous podcaster but when Danielle asked Ramona and I we both agreed just for fun and to have a new experience ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Hahaha thank you Lashaan! But recording my reviews as you said I would have to read them or there would be too many blanks and hesitations. Now I love telling and reading stories in French you know changing my voice to tiny for a kid, rumbling for a giant and all LOL

  8. Oh, what a delight to hear you chatting on the podcast. And what a fun idea too, everyone sharing the favourite books and authors. And it’s funny how everyone always thinks our accents are either “funny” or “cute”. No one ever believes I’m English, they think I’m from Australia or New Zealand, or … anywhere but the UK. But then, that’s because I’ve travelled so much. I have, eh, a very distinct accent. ๐Ÿ˜‰

    1. Hahaha you have a universal accent Alexandra! You don’t sound posh anymore then? And when I am staying in the US for some weeks I’ll end up sounding more American while when I lived in London I was clipping my words ๐Ÿ˜‰

  9. AWWW!! Your voice is so beautiful!! I hope that your daughter does feel better soon. Moms are the best when we are sick and its so classic that she called you for advice. ๐Ÿ˜‰ Have a great week! ๐Ÿ™‚

  10. It doesn’t matter how old we get, we always need our mom’s . I’m so happy she said those words to you and here’s hoping she’s feeling 100% before classes start again next week!
