Today is Sunday time to look back in the rearview mirror and talk about my week .Β I am linking up to the Sunday Post hosted for years byΒ Kimberly@caffeinatedreviewerΒ .Β
In my private life
Happy Sunday!
As my title suggests, my week has been very busy!
Gone is the holiday! Welcome back to a hectic week at work with some top manager ranting against my team and some of my decisions while he was misinformed…
Oh joy!
What do you do when you get a very aggressive and negative email telling you that all you do is sh*t and that you should have consulted some people working for the sender before doing all this?
Well I don’t know you but me, I read the message quizzically, see if indeed I did something wrong (that happens, I am human) but when I conclude that the aggressor is just ranting and unfair I… skype that person calmly to smooth things over.
That infuriates my husband who’d rather give punch for punch, certainly as I did nothing wrong.
But I am more a kind of “I will still have to collaborate with that person” type of gal and I calmly point out everything with facts so that my “aggressor” just realizes that he was wrong all along.
Well that has been that kind of week at work! Welcome back they said…
On Wednesday I moved my daughter as in “put furnitures back in her current dorm”. She came with her own bed etc and so, moved everything out of her dorm and stored it in a garage. As she is leaving for another location, I had to put the bed, the wardrobe and two dressers back on Wednesday!
No man to do the heavy lifting, just my SUV, my daughter and I.
Let me tell you that I felt my biceps for days as there was no lift to get into her room, just oustide stairs. And she was on the second floor.
The perk is that now I can compete with Henry Cavill (I wish… this might be a slight overestimate).
As usual, I am leaving you with one funny reel about Manon Blackbeak! When I heard Dove Cameron’s song “Breakfast”, Manon popped in my mind!
On the blog this week (click on the graphic to read the post)
I told you I had read a lot of books while on holiday and I have three weeks of reviews planned already!
So this week , I posted three of them with one, My Oxford Year by Julia Whelan, being a HUGE CRUSH this year!
Thanks for reading!
Sophie

We still have a few more weeks until school starts up again, but I don’t think I’m ready for the summer to end!
I am not either to be honest, even with the heatwave!
What a week!! I hope this one is more relaxing!!
Me too Susy!
That’s a great attitude to take when dealing with difficult people at work, especially if you know you’re going to be stuck working with them again at some point. I can understand your husband’s anger though because I think I’d be torn between doing it your way and his way, haha!
There is no easy way!
You have a great perspective though in working with others, I am so sorry that you got such a horrible message though. But you are the better person. Its that inner strength that make women so powerful and can change lives.
I htink so too about women Renee!
Congrats on the second floor! Who said women are the weak gender *lol* Have a great new week, Sophie
Thank you Vi!
I think your reaction to the email probably gets better results. I would immediately get angry and that accomplishes nothing.
Years of practice help I think LOL
Wow- second floor too? Super Sophie!! π
Love the Tiktok- awesome!
Thank you Greg!
I feel your pain, Sophie. Literally. Last year, my daughter lived on the 4th floor of her dorm and there was no elevator. We’re hoping for a better room assignment this year!
4th floor? Oh my!
I’m glad you were able to handle the situation with decorum, Sophie. My instinct is to get my back up and lash out, lol
Well it’s hard and I was lucky I just came back from holiday. I was much calmer lol
It all happens at once, doesn’t it? I’m glad you survived the week with success and even read some great books. I love Julia Whelan.
Anne – Books of My Heart This is my Sunday Post
Yikes, that heavy lifting reminds me of all the times I have moved over the years….and now my back is paying!
Enjoy your books and your week. Love the look of My Oxford Year.
Thank you Laurel! And I hope you’ll read My Oxford Year!
I wish I was the person who could calming meet with someone who just tore me apart via email. I am not that person. I can be so reactive!!! But, also, I hate confrontation, so I wouldn’t have been able to talk to them face to face.
Well, hopefully this week is drama free!
Fingers crossed Samantha!
Well, you are a better person than I, Sophie. I always practice avoidant behavior, and I don’t deal well with very aggressive people. My daughter always used the furniture that was in her dorm room. I never thought to move it out.
I don’t know if I am a better person Sam. Maybe rather used to it by now? π
Moving is so stressful! I had to help my daughter move a couple of years ago, into a fourth floor apartment and the elevator was broken Fun times. Have a good week Sophie!
I am happy it was only the second floor then Tammy π
You should start a removal company Sophie, you’d make a mint!!!!
And I’d have a great body Caro! win win! :-))
What a nightmare to come back to work after vacation only to deal with that nonsense. I can understand your husband’s inclination, but obviously you handled it sensibly. Hopefully this other guy will cool off and realize he’s dealing with a professional! All that moving and with no elevator… Henry Cavill, look out! π
I think us women are usually more level headed than men in such situations Tanya! Must be oestrogen vs testosterone
