June has been another incredibly busy and exciting month as a blogger. I tried but failed to post every day due to work and beta reading yet again (more as soon as I can because it’s been a fantastic one!!!). Oh and I also had to work (yes you know just to feed the family), take care of the kids… It’s also been stressful as my kids had their exams and I’m proud to say…they passed!!!

I also hosted giveaways on my blog others just on Facebook. I know it’s been a very expensive month but I wanted to share my love of books with others!

Once again an author I admire has been so kind and answered my questions!!!!

I also took part in the Calendar Girl monthly event and the June The Comment Challenge (it’s been kind of a bust as the other blogger didn’t comment back but oh well, that’s life 😉 )

I want to thank you all for inspiring me each day. You give me ideas and energy. I love reading your comments so just keep going! And I want to ask for your understanding as I’ll be sometimes unavailable this month doing one or another fun thing with the family. I promise to comment back and post as soon as I can.

Here is my month in reviews

YA: The Unexpected Everything by Morgan Matson -> http://amzn.to/2tsPtEr

My review: HERE

Young adult at its best.

This story is cute without being overly sweet, funny but serious, light and thoughtful. It shows us sometimes the best laid plans can be derailed for the better. Take what life gives you and enjoy. Our best moments are the unexpected ones.

YA: A Court of Wings and Ruin by Sarah J Maas ->http://amzn.to/2s9JMHy

My review: HERE

To sum it up: Sarah J Maas knows how to weave a tale and enthrall her readers with epic stories. She kept me on my toes all along and had me experience a roller coaster of emotions!
Some readers were disappointed with the ending but to me it was just perfect.
I wonder who her next books will feature as main characters of the story. I just hope Tamlin will get his HEA somewhat as I think Sarah J Maas should make it up to him. 6 stars!

YA Fantasy: Now I Rise by Kiersten White -> http://amzn.to/2urZDSs

My Review: HERE

4,5 stars and now I can honestly say that I did not want to stop reading but I also don’t know what I should wish for the third book. This is very unusual as I always know what I want or hope to find in a sequel!

Adult sweet romance: Sugar & Gold by Emma Scott-> http://amzn.to/2suFWIc

My review: HERE

4,5 stars! Sugar and Gold, it says it all. This book is sweet like sugar and warm like gold. Now you’d have to add a zest of lemon because all is not a bed of roses and the heroes had their fair share of trouble! Some hot pepper too because Nik and Fiona between the sheet… steamy!!

Adult slow burn romance: The Wall of Winnipeg and Me by Mariana Zapata -> http://amzn.to/2us8YcR

My review: HERE

It was a big book (more than 600 pages) that was never boring and I did not want it to end. 5 stars!

YA: The Impossible Vastness of Us by Samantha Young –> http://amzn.to/2txYBIa

My review: HERE

5 stars! YA at its best!!! What Samantha Young achieved was really brilliant: changing my perception. The character’s evolution or rather the character “reveal” was faultless. From a preconceived idea about many of them I discovered right alongside India that no matter what, everyone has secrets and can hurt. Wealthy or not you still suffer the same. You sometimes hurt others just to protect them. Hell’s road is paved with good intentions.

These engaging characters hurt. They hate, they love, they forgive…they grow up. It’s life. It’s messy. It’s just beautiful.

YA: Exit, Pursued by A Bear by A.K. Johnston -> http://amzn.to/2u7vV5J

My review: HERE

More than 4 stars! Despite this drama, the book is not dreadful, isn’t a “non- stop crying” book but rather an inspiring one. I read it in one sitting as I wanted to know if Hermione would vanquish, if her rapist would be caught but also because I learned so much about cheerleading, a sport I did not imagine was so hard and challenging (European rookie here…).

RomCom: Writing Mr Right by T K Leigh -> http://amzn.to/2sZZ0lj

My review: HERE

4,5 stars! So this book is filled with humor (you’ll be a master at naming penises), romance (yes, yes I assure you), tenderness (between Molly and Drew, Molly and her niece), sadness (when Molly witnesses her father fading away day after day) and … hotness (because Noah is just like a sex God ;-)).
The big lesson is plans are meant to be derailed.
One of my favorite quote (just because I can): ”Maybe I had been subconsciously waiting to find a man who would treat me the way a woman deserved to be treated…like a queen in public and a goddess in private.”

Adult: Tied by Carian Cole -> http://amzn.to/2sa1o6b

My review: HERE

3,5 to 4 stars. I know Carian fans won’t be disappointed with this story as she once more delivers her magic touch. A sweet sometimes angsty story about two lost souls helping mend the other.

YA fantasy: Lord of Shadows by Cassandra Clare -> http://amzn.to/2sZwiRj

My review: HERE

6 Stars! !!! What Cassandra Clare gives us is unique: a rich story evolving right alongside the protagonists, each having his/her own adventure and yet all moving seamlessly right alongside the others. They are a unit, limbs of the same body, united by a fierce love. To sum everything up: this sequel is filled with actions, introspection, complicated relationship, emerging friendship, love, hate, and end on a huge drama. The last book can’t come soon enough!

Second chance: The Clover Chapel by Devney Perry ->http://amzn.to/2usjRLI

My review: HERE
Second chance romance with a great heroine and a small town feel.

Sweet romance: Written in the Scars by Adriana Locke ->http://amzn.to/2s9NEZb

My review: HERE

So if you’re looking for a book about life, about people like you and me, about second chance this is a very good one!
Now I’ll go looking into the others author’s books…

Now aside all these fantastic reads, I’ve also been incredibly lucky with author’s interviews.

  1. Ugh that’s such a bummer about your comment challenge partner. I’ve participated in a few things similar to this, and it has also been hit or miss for me. I hope you got a more active partner for July if you are participating again! 🙂

    1. Well it happens…and I did not enter in July as I can’t post or reply steadily. It depends on the activities of the day. Family time first this month
