Hi friends,

This is our time to chat about my week on Sunday, linking back to The Sunday Post from Kimberly @caffeinatedreviewer.

In my personal life

I swear I must be hexed!

Last week I told you that my laptop battery broke on Friday, a weasel ate some of my car’s cables on Saturday and that I had a flat tire on Sunday right?

Well this week, one of the most recent and highly performing colleagues that I hired months ago told me that she had offers from another team (she’ll investigate and make a decision). We were short staffed for one year before finding her so it does not please me at all but of course I’ll support her choice. I told her she had to choose for her, not for me or our colleagues. But if someone wants to burn a candle and pray for her staying I would not mind! 😀

Then I learned that one of my dear friends and senior executive had received her notice! No warning nothing. It has been really brutal and shocking. We are still processing it.

And on Friday I noticed that my dog walked on three legs. After a weekend visit to the vet and some radiography we learned that her knee’s ligaments are broken. The only option is a surgery costing around 1000 USD.

See when I told you that I must be cursed?

I am certain someone has a voodoo doll with my face pierced with many needles stashed under his bed! Must be the postman fed up with carrying all our Amazon orders. Or the owner of the local Burger King as I refuse to eat his fries (sorry I have a liver condition). Or maybe an other commuter jealous of my noise cancelling headset and determined to ruin my life as I always seem to be in a state of bliss on the train!

Some people can’t stand other’s happiness!

Anyway, as a result my migraine is back for three days now.

That led me to the conclusion that I absolutely need to alleviate some pressure in my life. At work certainly but on the blog too.

That’s why from January 1st, I won’t have a schedule with weekly posts planned nor request ARCs that were not already requested or from my top 6 unicorn authors. I will still post of course but only when I feel it! I just want the pleasure not the pressure.

I am certain it will leave me more room to blog hop and see what’s happening elsewehere.

Last edit here as I forgot to mention…the good parts of the week!

On Friday I went to see the Red Army Choir with my mom and we had a blast! All these beautiful male voices!

On Saturday I went to the theater with my daughter and watched Last Christmas with Emilia Clark. Perfect Christmas movie!

On Sunday my son and I walked to a Christmas Fair to do some shopping and eat churros.

So family time to compensate all these bad news!

On the blog this week (click on the graphic to read the post)

I reviewed ….4 books! One of them with all the stars!!!!

Blogmas is still going strong and you can see my choices below

That’s all! How was your week? Better than mine I hope!

Thanks for reading.

  1. Oh no – sorry to hear about your dog! And the price tag- yikes! Hoping your co- worker stays though. You gotta find that voodoo doll and get rid of it lol.

I think you’re doing the right thing by simplifying some. Blogging is too $%^& hectic sometimes!!!

Okay for the quiz I got … a spear! Hmmm I don’t know how I feel about that. No sword? Nut maybe it’s for the best haha!

    1. Bwahahahahahaha Jen you have no idea how your comment helped me! I nearly drowned my work computer in coffee as I was swallowing when reading it! Thank you.

  2. It does sound like some voodoo practitioner is not happy with you. My bet is on the burger king guy. Jokes aside, I’m sorry all these things are happening all at once. And I completely support your decision to slow down with ARCs and such. The novelty is not worth the stress and pressure when you already have so much going on. I hope the holidays will be better!

  3. Oh no love, it’s all going on isnt it.

I’m loving your plan for early 2020, I too am not requesting any arcs so I have a chance to read my tbr but I am worried that my blog will be full of reviews and not much else!

    1. Well Caro maybe we’ll get our mojo back again in some weeks/months but in the meantime I really need to take it easy!

  4. Simplicity my friend. I think you have made the right choice. When something ceases to be fun and becomes a chore, it is time to back away and decompress. I’ll be honest, I’m feeling that with my photography page. I grumble when I “HAVE” to sit down an process pictures because I’m out. I used to do it cause I enjoyed it. I need to find the joy again and so do you
