Hi dear friends,
Today is the middle of our blogmas challenge.
The topic fits so perfectly with my blog as I read mostly romances and today I celebrate my favorite romance authors read this year.
Once again I had to make hard choices as there are so many authors deserving this title!
My two winners of the day are Emma Scott (for the second year in a row) and Helen Hoang.
Emma Scott has an incredible gift: she writes with her enormous heart and always manages to touch me deep in my soul and bones.
Here below you will find all her books that I’ve read so far (nearly all what she’s written) and all were winners!
Her last book duet The Beautiful Hearts was like an emotional tsunami!
I have already talked aplenty about her books and as I don’t want to bore you out I want to share my favorite quotes, one for each book that I’ve read:
How to Save a Life
“You believed me. Or maybe you didn’t, but you accepted me. And that had never happened to me before.”
Full Tilt
“Brave or scared shitless I don’t have a choice but to love you”.
Advice for that one: tissues, lots and lots of tissues!
All In
“Where there is ruin, there is hope for treasure.”
The Butterfly Project
“I wear the words like chains around my neck. Felon. Criminal. Prisoner. I‘m all those things, and remain them, even after time served. A freed prisoner with a life sentence. Now I have a woman in my life who’s turned everything that was cold and gray into warmth and color. She’s inked new words onto my heart. Us. Together.”
Sugar and Gold
“Him and me. I was his shield guarding his peace, and he was my foundation, unwavering beneath me. Always.”
One Good Man
“I waited for the pride to swell in me for the praise, but it was the story that needed to be told, and that’s all that mattered. And I decided, then and there, those were the only kinds of stories I would ever tell.”
Forever Right Now
“Telling you not to love is like depriving a flower of sunshine. You aren’t meant to be contained Darlene. It would be a crime against humanity.”
In Harmony
“Some day, Willow, you might find yourself cast into darkness too. I hope that day never comes. If it does, it will be scary at first. But you will see your own brilliance, your own strenght and you will shine.”
Bring Down the Stars
“When your dad leaves you behind like a forgotten sock, a piece of your childhood rots away—the part where you can just be a kid without worrying so much.”
Long Live the Beautiful Hearts
“For you, I’d bring down the stars Wreath their fire around your neck like diamonds And watch them burn you with my lies…”
See why I think she deserves to be one of my two winners today?
My second winner today has already been featured twice in this challenge as Best Romcom and Best Standalone! But she totally deserves a third post as favorite romance writer!
Helen Hoang just blew me away with what is a debut book!
The Kiss Quotient is just one of the most romantic reads I’ve ever had the pleasure to read.
This story is filled with wisdom and an ode to be different and loving it.
“All the things that make you different make you perfect.”
“She had a disorder, but it didn’t define her. She was Stella. She was a unique person.”
“I don’t want just a night or a week or a month with you. I want you all the time. I like you better than calculus, and math is the only thing that unites the universe.”
I have heard such amazing things about The Kiss Quotient and I can’t wait to read it. I recently read a review for Long Live the Beautiful Hearts as well and it makes that series sound so emotional but so worth it too! I am definitely going to have to check it out…
Sadly, I have not read either of these authors. I totally want to read them especially since they made your list!

Yay Sophie, excellent choices!
Such great picks! Emma Scott is just the master at heartfelt and emotional reads. Love, love, love her! And Helen Hoang is definitely one to watch. After loving The Kiss Quotient so much I can’t wait to see more from her.
Me too Tanya! I think I will pre order The Bride Test asap!
I’ve not read anything by Emma Scott yet so it sounds like I need to remedy that. I agree with you about Hoang though. I adored The Kiss Quotient!
Oh Suzanne I can’t wait for you to read these!!!
I read a lot of Emma Scott books this year and shed many Emma Scott tears. They were all great. And Helen Hoang is near the top of my list. Her debut was phenomenal, probably my favorite debut this year.
Me too Sam and I can’t wait for The Bride Test!
I’m reading Long Live the Beautiful Hearts now, and it’s breaking my heart. Emma Scott is amazing!
Oh that is so true Jacquie!
Both of these are authors i want to try. Even more now that you’ve praised them so highly. Lovely post Sophie. I hope you are doing well.
Thank you Laura and I manage <3
