Hi everyone I hope you are not freezing your “behind” as it seems my friends in NY are currently having a snow storm and a very cold weather! Talia I can’t imagine how you must be cold right now!

Hang on tight everyone and stay safe!

Today is my first “First Line Friday” but I hope not my last!

First Line Fridays is a weekly meme hosted by Hoarding Books!!!

It’s really easy to participate (why do you think I’m doing this duh! 😉 ) all you have to do is take the book you are currently reading and type the first lines.

Today’s lines come from Secondborn by Amy A Bartol

“It’s agony and relief to watch my life end. I’m not dying, though my heart aches as if it might. Blood pounds drumbeats through my veins. My temples throb whilemy mother takes the podium. Spotlights shine on us, burning away the gloom of predawn light.”

What are you reading today? First lines?

Thanks for reading.

  1. Welcome to the FLF fun, Sophie! We’re so glad you’ve joined us!

Death had a way of creeping up on a soul, and Ivy Thorpe was determined that when it visited her, she would not be surprised.

    1. Thank you Beth! I’m looking for meme not too hard to do as I don’t have much time and this one is really good as we get to show others our first lines. Maybe they will pick our book too 😉
Creepy first line by the way LOL Have a fantastic weekend!

  2. Happy Friday!

My first line(s) is from the Prologue in Susan May Warren’s new book Troubled Waters, which I finished last night:

“Oh, this was a bad idea. Epically, abysmally, horrendously bad.”

  3. Our temperatures have earned above freezing. Only this week has mercury climbed above 32°Fahrenheit. There is still snow from December 23. Your lines do make want to read the book.

  4. It’s definitely cold here in the south!!

I’ll grab a book nearest me to share a first line (it’s one I’m hoping to read this year). From “The Outlaw Takes a Bride” by Susan Page Davis:
Johnny Paynter slung his saddle over his chestnut gelding’s back.

  5. I AM soooo cold. I made the mistake of going out wearing only jeans without anything underneath (leggins or thigh, not undies, of course). Halfway to the post office, the wind started kicking up the snow on the banks on the sides of the streets. One minute later I could barely feel my legs.
Anyway, now I’m back inside and reading #swag, by Hebert.
First peagraph? “My father always told me I could be whatever I wanted when I grew up.
    So I became a woman in a man’s world.
Turns out I had bigger balls than a lot of men. They didn’t take too kindly to that.”

      1. I know! Usually I wear thighs, leggings AND jeans but yesterday my brain was somehow on another planet and I only realised my mistake once out 🙁

    1. I so love these first lines!!! And like Susan said dress in layers. Jeans IS cold in winter. I wear thigh under my jeans or better wool pants and not jeans.

  6. Sounds like an amazing book!

Today, I’m hosting Oath of Honor on my site. I just started it, so I’m only at chapter 3. So, here I will share the first couple of lines from that chapter.

“‘Kevin!’ But with the doors shut and the windows up, he wouldn’t hear her whispered shout. She should have lied and said the place was covered in cameras.”

  7. Whoo hoo!!!! You are joining in!!

    Happy Friday!

My First Line Friday comes from a book I’m reading now, Any Day Now by Robyn Carr.

So, this is what a new life looks like. Sierra Jones opened her eyes on a sunny Colorado morning to that thought.

Have a great weekend and stay warm!
