Synopsis

The faire is Simon’s family legacy and from the start he makes clear he doesn’t have time for Emily’s lighthearted approach to life, her oddball Shakespeare conspiracy theories, or her endless suggestions for new acts to shake things up. Yet on the faire grounds he becomes a different person, flirting freely with Emily when she’s in her revealing wench’s costume. But is this attraction real, or just part of the characters they’re portraying?
This summer was only ever supposed to be a pit stop on the way to somewhere else for Emily, but soon she can’t seem to shake the fantasy of establishing something more with Simon, or a permanent home of her own in Willow Creek.
Audiobook Review
4,5 stars
Mini review here as I have tons of reviews to write and things to do!
First this was a total “bookstagram made me read this”. I kept seeing this book on everyone’s feeds and when I saw that the narrator was one of my favorites, Brittany Pressley, I knew that I had to listen to the audiobook.
It made me revise my judgement: I can listen to romance audiobook. They “just” have to be more on the romantic side than on the “graphic sex” side.
I was surprised at how much I enjoyed this story!
The idea of a renaissance fair was so much fun as the characters got to speak with accents and in Shakespeare’s fashion. The narrator truly did these accents brilliantly!
I also loved the enemies to lover trope paired with the underdog’s trope as well!
“Emma the Tavern Wench was turned on by Captain Blackthorn, Pirate. This could be a problem.”
Emmaline was a great character, loveable, caring for her family and she did not hesitate to hold her ground with Simon! If she did not finish college, it was not because she lacked smart or sass!
Just suffering from a bad breakup, she came in that small town to help her injured sister and care for her niece. She will enroll at the summer renaissance fair as her niece is so determined to play a role in it.
Said fair is Simon’s baby!
Their first meet began on the wrong foot and Emmaline didn’t want to have anything to do with him! She’d rather ogle gorgeous Mitch’s muscles. But as I said, this is an enemies to lover book.
Simon was deliciously broody and grumpy but when he became a rakish pirate, the heat was off the charts! I loved that playful side of him.
We all know where this is headed to but the journey was brilliant! There is sparks, sass, emotion, joy sadness sometimes. All flowing effortlessly.
If you want a very enjoyable read to forget about the doom and gloom, don’t look further!
Have you read this one?
Thanks for reading!
I have heard so much about this romance book! And it sounds really cute and adorable. I think it is a cute setting for a book. I can’t do romance audiobooks though – I really just can’t :p But I can read this one physically! I am glad you have found the kind of romance that works for you though.
I truly is so adorable Olivia!

Haha I will definitely admit I’ve been seeing this a lot of bookstagram and to be honest, it seems really cute! I believe I have this on hold… either that, or I’m thinking of another book entirely. I’m glad you enjoyed Well Met as much as others have.
Thank you Sophia!
Oh yes, I really enjoyed this one too – it was a nice, light escape from my more often darker reads
Exactly! Some breathe of fresh air!
I went the audio route with this one, too, and it ended up being one of my biggest surprises last year! I adored Emma and Simon and the way the story played out. It was just a joy to listen to. 🙂
I think the audio was just perfect Tanya!
Yeah! Glad you enjoyed this one. I was a fan of this pairing, but I also liked the relationship Em was rebuilding with her sister, and I adored her and her niece together.
Exactly! Everything just worked perfectly well Sam!
