Hi dear friends,

This is totally an “out of the  blue” post but when I saw on Facebook that Netflix is asking for book recommendations to decide new movies to make …I found it brilliant!

I posted my ideas plural even if they ask for ONE book *obviously they are not readers because asking a bookworm for one book is like asking Cher to stop with plastic surgery ….IMPOSSIBLE! * 😀

If you want to give your two cents here is the link to their Facebook page but please leave also a comment below because I am CURIOUS about YOUR CHOICE (S)!

NETFLIX Link (click on the graphic):

Here are my choices and for once we’ll keep it short and sweet yet enthusiastic *a lepoard does not change its spots* about my reasoning!

Nine Minutes trilogy by Beth Flynn.

Obviously it would be a series! I bet it would be better than Sons of Anarchy. It’s brilliant with tons of plot twists and you could play on the 60ies and 70ies feel with amazing prop and atmosphere. Plus Grizz would draw all females LOL

Mists of the Serengeti by Leylah Attar.

Because it would be grand and epic. Because the characters are just fantastic, the story gripping, the setting in Africa would make for stunning landscapes and the intrigue about dealing Albinos kid’s body parts would be eye opener and add the thrill factor.

And because I wrote: It was grand! Not because it was a big book only 360 pages but because it was grandiose, packed with so many messages, intense moments, grief, heartbreak, rebirth, hope, utter despair and gorgeous backdrop. That said I’m convinced this book is movie worthy.

Seriously if I was a producer I would buy the book’s rights just now.

Heartbreak Warfare by Kate Stewart and Hearther M Orgeron

Because it’s about war, US soldiers sent to the front and very contemporary topic! PTSD, hostages and a heart torn in two between a courageous infantry soldier and a beautiful and righteous captain.

An Exaltation of Larks by Suanne Laqueur

It should be made into these summer TV shows with several episods as it should cover both books, A Charm of Finches included.

Because you have historical events happening in Latin America, a family saga, fantastic characters, crossed destinies and beautiful male escort. Plus the discovery of your sexual preferences in a very intelligent and sensitive writing. Intense, gripping, filled with drama and trauma to overcome. Brilliant!

The Beautiful Hearts Duet by Emma Scott

Because it’s packed with emotion, romance, feelings. Because it’s a story of beautiful friendship and loyalty. It’s a Cyrano de Bergerac retelling with splendid characters! You would feel like Gone with the Wind with this one!

I’ll Meet you There by Heather Demetrios

Because it’s real, solid, raw and compelling. Here again it broaches brilliantly and with great pertinence the aftermath of war the hero coming back from war amputated. It also shows the “forgotten rural America” with a poor but courageous heroine working hard to become someone else. It is so much more than that because you have a slow burn romance and many touching moments.

Lifel1k3 by Jay Kristoff

Because the characters are simply fantastic with a snarky heroine Eve, her smartass sidekick with a devil may care attitude Miss Lemon Fresh and gorgeous droid Zeke and tons of action, plot twists in an apocalyptic universe! Better than Star Wars!

The Kiss Quotient by Helen Hoang

It’s already been auctioned !!!! Stella and Michael are simply the best OTP! It would show the day to day struggle of autists painted in a very sensitive and fresh light. The dialogs would be to die for as this book is packed with humor and candor. Michael being a male escort would also draw the female and gay public! I am already crossing my fingers that the cast will be phenomenal!

Pestilence by Laura Thalassa

Because it happens in an apocalyptic universe, literally!  Pestilence is one of the four riding horsemen sent to earth to rain plague! Sara was just brilliant, strong and loving. You have killings, ambush, escapes, romance ….

Secondborn series by Amy Bartol

Because Roselle St Sismode is just kickass! You would have a futuristic universe with a badass warrior female, tons of handsome males, consipracy, rebellion, action, betrayals, huge plot twists and big bad villains!

Throne of Glass by Sarah J Maas

Because …do I REALLY need to explain the amazing character casts, the fantastic universe filled with demons, huge spiders, wyverns, handsome males, kickass heroines witches included? It would simply be EPIC!

Now it’s your turn! What do you think of my choices? And would you like other books made into movies?

Thanks for reading!

Sophie

  1. Nine minutes sounds great!! And you’re right about the landscapes of Africa being a great setting for a movie. I really want to read kiss quotient and it sounds like it would make a great movie 🙂 Looking forward to lifelike too- sounds like it’d be a fantastic film. And oh YES to the TOG series as a movie franchise!!

  2. Such a major question. I got brain freeze from trying to figure out which one(s) I’d choose. Lol.
James made me add An Exaltation of Larks to my TBR, so after I read that I’ll get back to you. 😉

    1. Well and James read it because I harrassed him LOL Seriously I was trying to convince him to read this one so now I am adding my voice . And I can’t wait for your review Nina!

  3. I would love to see Anna Dressed in Blood, Sadie, The Dark Descent of Elizabeth Frankenstein, Shatter Me, The Jasper Dent Series, When, Any Nate Kenyon book, The Witch Born series. Oh, there are sooo many I would love to see become a movie. Why don’t they make more books into movies?

    Mary

    1. Well that’s an excellent question Mary! And Sadie would be reall interesting! Make Jennifer Lawrence play Sadie and I am in!

  4. This is tough because I always feel like movies never capture the emotional depth that books do. I might like to see Lisa Renee Jones ‘ Lilah Love series and Kristen Ashley ‘s The Three Series! But only if the wolves and vamps can be portrayed factually and not silly…

  5. The good news is – TKQ movie is a done deal. I actually downloaded The Beautiful Hearts duet (last night), because of you. You totally have my curiosity piqued. I finally got I’ll Meet You There, and will soon read it and discover what everyone loves about it. I would like to see ToG become a series a la Outlander. There are multiple ginormous books to adapt with lots of interesting bits.

  6. Wow, good call by Netflix, because I’m sure there are loads of good books that mainstream Hollywood doesn’t think of that would make great movies – brilliant of them to ask readers, and it would be amazing if they could make it happen. While I did not love LIFEL1K3, I agree it would make an interesting adaptation!

  7. So many good choices, Sophie! Started to get worried as I scrolled down your list and then there it was! I know you’d have Sarah’s books. LOL I already left them my wish. It was Cinder. I adored the series and think they would be great movies!

  8. I had no idea that they were looking for recommendations! How cool! I totally agree with you on I’ll Meet You There. I think that another great adaptation could be found in a Morgan Mason novel.

    1. Oh yes I thought about Morgan Matson too! I loved The Unexpected Everything and I could totally see it in a movie!
