Today is Sunday, time to look back in the rearview mirror and talk about my week in and out of the blog. As usual I am linking up to the Sunday Post hosted for years by Kimberly@caffeinatedreviewer .

In my private life

Well as my headline said, I am being eaten alive by mosquitoes!!!

I don’t know if being in the pre menoposis is altering the taste of my blood but that’s for sure that I suddenly became the latest flavor for our local mosquitoes!

And that itches like mad!

So if you see me suddenly looking all twitchy and deranged, scratching and all, I am not high on coke but just eaten alive by these nasty winged creatures.

And they are stealthy!

I don’t even hear them coming!

I swear they shut off the motor when they come close, land and take off at full speed once the deed is done!

If you have any remedy I am all ears!

I know I’ll end up ordering from internet one of these miraculous US remedies. The ones that have twice the amount of allowed substance in Europe but that are sooooo efficient and worth the risk 😀

What else happened? Well let’s see:

-my daughter and son got their first shot of the Pfizer vaccine;

-I drove three hours after work on Tuesday for my daughter to get that shot;

-it’s been very warm in Belgium and we’ve had crazy storms with thunder, lightning and tons of rain;

-I am functioning on five hours sleep average;

-I set a date with a friend to go to the theater, first time in 18 months!!!

Oh and I again made some funny reels on Instagram.

What I’d write to Sarah J Maas

How I feel when one of my friends fall for my favorite book!

On the blog (Click on the graphic to read the post)

Since last Sunday post I have written five reviews. Already know that tomorrow’s review will be about a book I bet will be on the “Best Debut Novel” in the 2021 Goodreads award!

Thanks for reading!

  1. Normally the mosquitos don’t care for my blood, but they sure seem to enjoy it this year. I had a bite on the tip of my elbow last week that nearly drove me crazy. So glad your kids got their first dose, Sophie!

  2. I am itchy just reading about your mosquito bites! I have tried calamine lotion for the itch, but it is really messy and looks gross. I hope that it gets better and you have a great week! 🙂

  3. I absolutely *HATE* mosquitoes just as much as they like me – or rather the taste of my blood… (vampire mosquitoes? eeeek!!!) Indoors they are not a problem, thanks to mosquito nets that have been one of the best inventions ever made by mankind, but outside the little buggers are quite aggressive, and I always picture them coming at me with a vengeance, since I don’t like spraying anything in my skin, so I have no advice for you on this side of the problem…

  4. Welcome to my world! Mosquitos love me too, and it’s been like this my whole life! In fact, when when my family goes out for evening activities, my kids love hanging close to me because any mosquitos around would invariably prefer to bite me instead of them. I’m like their natural bug repellent 😛

  5. Mosquitos love me too! I hate them. I use Deet. It works the best. Just make sure you follow all the directions. It can be unhealthy but better than the bites, IMO! Have a great week, Sophie!

  6. Being as I don’t get out much, I am not dealing with mosquito bites, but they are the worst! My daughter is really allergic, and they swell to like plate-sized on her. It’s unsettling. Super-mom doing that drive. You’re awesome and it’s great your kids are able to get some protection from the virus. I hope you can get some itch relief and more sleep this week, Sophie.

  7. We like the lemon Eucalyptus stuff. We used it when we went to Brazil in 2016 and Zika was a big issues. I don’t remember any bites but the mosquitos were definitely everywhere. I’m glad to say the mosquitos aren’t bad in our yard but I think many neighbors and the golf course spray for them so we get that benefit.

    I hope to get to People We Meet on Vacation this week. Glad to see you loved it.

  8. Definitely try Avon Skin So Soft lotion, it has an ingredient that repels mosquitos, just rub it on your arms and legs, plus it smells nice I bought mine on Amazon. Good luck and hope you have a nice week!
