Hi dear friends!

It’s time for our weekly recap about my week “in real life” and on the blog. As usual I am linking with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly@caffeinatedreviewer

What happened this week in my private life?

Well the wind went on! Nearly the whole week! No damage to the roof but it was really hard to sleep.

My daughter is like her mom: always prepared and ready.

She asked me “What do we do if the roof is destroyed?

I told her that we’d evacuate and call the firefighters.

“But why?” Because they will protect the house and limit the damages.

Then we call the insurance company and contact some firm to repair.

She was so convinced it would happen that she told me: “I won’t wear my pajama but I’ll stay clothed. You never know if I would  meet a hot firefighter!”

😀 😀 😀 😀

These sleepless nights had me exhausted and I went to bed at 9:30 PM more than once! Bad for blogging and commenting. Sorry folks I was really too tired to keep my eyes open in the evening.

It also seems that one of my recently recruited colleagues, with twenty years of experience under his belt is maybe lacking in some aspects of his work.

I’ve decided to analyse all his files since January and make up my own mind.

I already had plenty of other things to do but it’s too important to overlook as a manager. I needed to know how I could help him to improve and if we could trust him to decide alone or have a coach assigned to him. This is never a task a manager will relish in doing!

Next Monday (tomorrow) I will cross the country and teach my specialty in Dutch to thirty Dutch speaking colleagues.

I already know that these days are exhausting as I have to focus the whole day in another language and …set an example!

Now some thrilling news here!

I will attend RARE Paris on April 6th. My mom will come with me from Friday to Sunday and we’ll visit Paris but the Saturday she’ll be on her own as I will attend this book event (she does not speak English nor read so it would be too boring for her).

I volunteered to help that day as I will attend alone. I learned today that I will be author assistant for Scarlett Cole!

I am so excited! This will be totally new and a challenge for me. I hope I’ll be efficient and will help her to have a wonderful day with her readers. More once I’ll be back for sure 😀

I also offered to translate for French speaking readers who don’t speak much English. It should be interesting!

Oh and I don’t know if you  noticed but I changed this meme’s graphic. My way of asking spring to come already!

On the blog (click on the graphic to read the review)

I reviewed three books and gave my first two stars in a loooooong time!

Let’s begin with the disappointing read: Becoming his Monster by Amelia Hutchins.

This is the third book in this series and I really liked the first two books but this one …I was all “What the heck have I read here!!!!”

If you follow me for some time now you must now it is very unusual when I give less than three stars AND have not any good word to say about the book!

I ordered and read Soul in Darkness by Wendy Higgins after having read Raven’s review. It was a 4 stars and I’ll be happy to have it signed by the author in Paris!

My favorite this week was a very funny read: Naked Love by Jewel E Ann. A real romcom gem!

In the top 5 Tuseday Shanah asked us to speak about our favorite books set up in our country. Read all about my predicament as not many authors set their plot in Belgium! So I tweaked the theme and talked about my favorite books set in countries that I had visited or lived in!

Last post: a discussion about blogging! Is it worth it? And what advice would you give other bloggers?

I really love the comments these posts get and I hope I’ll come up witth other topics you’d find interesting.

Some quizzes to end this post and my favorite posts from other bloggers!

  7. You had an interesting week, and I liked the discussion for new bloggers. (Even though I’ve been blogging for eleven years, now, it’s always fun to learn new things).

Enjoy your upcoming week, and thanks for visiting my blog.

  8. Oh, you are going to have so much fun in Paris…and to be able to spend time with your Mom there too…what a treat! Wish I could spend a weekend in Paris with my Mom.

  9. I love how fluent you are in so many languages. And, wow! Paris! A book adventure in Paris! I can’t really think of anything that is more wonderful.

I’ve taken the helm of one of our earliest book blogging memes, The Sunday Salon. I’d love to have you stop by my blog, Readerbuzz, and post a link to your blog. The Sunday Salon was created twelve years ago to encourage book conversations, and I hope to do the same by sharing links and visiting others’ blogs.

  10. Wow, sounds so exciting for you in Paris! And very busy too. I wouldn’t mind a hunky firefighter showing up at my place either. LOL Your new graphic is cute and hopeful:) Bring on spring!

  11. I really want to attend RARE. I’m eyeballing Edinburgh 2020 as it’ll be super awesome attending my first book convention and combining it with a trip home! I don’t get home anywhere near often enough.

The winds have been crazy, right? The amount of fences, powerlines, scaffolding etc I’ve see down in the past week or two is unreal. Glad you roof held up! I was giggling about your daughter and the firefighters…

    1. Oh I thought about attending Edinburgh too Nicci but we’ll probably be in the US at that time ….

  12. Sophie how exciting!!!! Have fun in Paris, and I’m sure you’ll be amazing!! And good luck to your daughter with the firefighters!! (But let’s hope your roof stays firmly attached!!)
