Hi friends,

It’s Sunday again, time to catch up on what happened in my private life and on the blog this week! As usual, I am linking up to The Sunday Post @caffeinatedreviewer

In my private life

Well this week at work has been intense, not only filled with tons of meetings but also with my new boss asking me new deliverables that should be out of my scope but that he deemed I am best fit to do. I am not complaining as it requires tons of analyzing and problem solving and that’s what I enjoy doing! Yet it asks a lot of focus and let me drained at the end of the days.

I usually crashed aroun 9:30 PM and had 9 hours sleep on my homework days!

Not sexy to realise that you sleep like a granny because your brain is overheating by day!

The reason why I said that aging sucks today is also because I slept only 4 hours on the night of Friday to Saturday as I was really caught up in a book (The Life You Stole by Jewel E Ann). What many years ago would only have resulted in me being tired teh day after has now turned into a raging migraine due to the lack of sleep!

I already took two painkillers so far to be able to write that post.

An that sucks!!!!

Because I am always the one doing many things and overbooking my schedule as I have tons of ideas and things I want to do but now, my body does not allow me to do these at full speed! I have ideas for discussion posts and funko tutorials for weeks and I can’t post them as my body pleads for me to rest.

But there are also good things this week!

I’ve been contacted on IG by yet another big publishing house established in the UK offering me a physical ARC and also asking that I send them an email with my reading preferences! Squee! Let’s just hope that they indeed saw my Belgian flag on IG and won’t retreat once they realize that my shipping address is in Belgium! It’s happened to other bloggers so …I’ll believe it when I’ll get the book in my mail LOL.

And the one thing I am really proud of is my new homemade custom funko of Jude Duarte from The Cruel Prince series!

You’ve met King Nikolai Lantsov last week well, this week meet Jude!

Sorry for the bad quality of the pic, it was after long hours of making that funko!

I make them for me, just for fun, and posted “not for sale” as I know we can’t sell fanart of that series anymore as Holly has sold the rights but I was already contacted by people interested to  buy! And another who asked me when I will open a shop.

So yes, it’s an ego boost and so much needed when you are a mom of young adults with a daughter finding that you are not so cool LOL

On the blog (click on the graphic to read the post)

This week I have read 5 books and reviewed 3 (the others will come next week and the weeks after)

A Long Petal of the Sea by Isabel Allende was my first read by this author and I have to thank Harper International for this one!

.

If These Wings Could Fly by Kyrie McCauley is a 4,5 stars and very impressive for a first work that does not feel like a first work at all! If you love books about abuse in families written in a very clever way with an added element of magic, go for it! I know it won’t be the last book that I’ll read by this author. Here again, I have to thank a publishing house, Harper 360 UK for sending this beauty my way! But as you know me by now, I am not swayed by gifts in my reviews so it comes from the bottom of my reader’s heart!

.

A Heart so Fierce and Broken by Brigid Kemmerer was one of my most awaited books for this year and made me feel many emotions! I NEVER could have expected that sequel to go such a way! Now I need and fear the third book! 4,5 stars

.

An on Tuesday I talked about books that exceeded my expectations sorting them from hyped books to underdogs.

On the blogosphere and the literary world

QUIZ! Epic Reads, my usual suspect, asks us this week:

Could You Make It Through a YA Fantasy Novel Without Getting Betrayed? My answer was : “You almost could … Just when you think you’ve won, someone literally stabs you in the back in the second-to-last chapter.” Damn! I nearly made it guys!

I had a good start at the beginning of the week to blog hop even if it went downhill by the end! So here are some posts that I found very interesting to share with you!

That’s it! How was your week? Anything interesting to now? I promise to blog hop and reply to all yet unreplied comments progressively, when my migraine abates and leave me some respite! In the meantime, ahev a wonderful Sunday!

Thanks for reading.

  1. Getting older is so hard, the whole your body desperately needs sleep gets more pronounced for me each year ack. Sending hugs your way. I wish we had more hours in the day! And that funko turned out so adorable, you’re so talented , Sophie! And keeping my fingers crossed you get that book!

  2. Oh man, getting older SUCKS! It’s really annoying to constantly be reminded that you can’t do things you used to anymore. I started getting migraines when sleep deprived as well… which sucks since I have chronic insomnia

That funko is adorable!!! And congras on the arc opportunity!!!

  3. I do hope this will be another wonderful physical review copy experience for you. And trust me, I totally understand. When I was working at the nursery with 40+ toddlers all the time I was asleep around 9pm every day as well 😛 And I get to nap every day in my break while au pairing so I have energy to do some blogging and such after my day ends at 6:30 with the kids!

  4. That Funko doll is amazing! I’m sorry to hear you’re also having stressful times at work. I don’t usually sleep very well but I know I couldn’t function on only 4 hours. I hope things get better soon.

  5. Oooh I love your Jude funko!!! Really good job <3 And I'm sorry about your headache! I hope its all gone! I hate it when my boss gives me things out of scope, but I guess that is just part of the territory when you are the only one who does what I do at my company haha.

  6. It’s great that your boss know he can count on you but it’s also extra work and cause for more strain and stress. And not enough sleep on top of it… that’s miserable. I’m a person who needs my 8 hours a night and almost always gets it. I’d be useless on 4 hours. I couldn’t do that to myself even for a book. LOL

  7. Well done on the funko! It’s awesome! Also, yeay for getting the recognition you deserve on your bookstagram and getting more physical book offers! Your pictures are beautiful so I’m so pleased for you!

The migraines suck though. I can’t stay up binge reading anymore without paying for it either… Which I did this week with extreme fatigue after staying up until 2.30 to finish Kill The Queen. 2.30!! It’s not like it was that late… sigh. But at least I avoided the migraine so I’ll count my blessings!

  8. I have the same issue of when I don’t get enough sleep I get a headache. Not always the next day, but often the day after. So if I stay up too late Friday, Saturday might be ok, but Sunday I am dead. I really want to still burn the candle at both ends, staying up late, getting up early and doing all the things all day long!

I hope you have a lovely week with some great sleep and some good books!

Anne – Books of My Heart Here is my Sunday Post

  9. It’s not fair that we get so tired now haha I often think too that I have aq ton of things I want to do, why does my body want to sleep lol? I miss the days of being able to stay up half the night and just shrug it off the next day. 🙂

Good luck with the work stuff! And I went over and took the quiz and got the same result. Dang it!!

  10. It definitely stinks, when your body won’t cooperate with you. Just remember to write those ideas down for later (I always forget, and then they never happen). I do admire people, who get 8+ hours of sleep (my daughter, my father, etc). I know it’s good for you, but I just don’t sleep, so it amazes me. Your funko projects amaze me too. Jude is wonderful! And, YESSSSSS for pubs noticing your IG greatness. I hope this one does realize your location and not flake out on you.

    1. Me too Sam! She just came back to me telling she has to check if Belgium is okay so …crossing my fingers, toes etc!
