Hi dear friends!

Time for a little weekly chit chat about how my week went and what happened on the blog. As usual I will link it up with @CaffeinatedReviewer.Β

I had no time to post last Sunday so I might go back a little farther this week …

In real life

In real life this week has been really stressful as some family drama unfurled on Wednesday with my son wanting to go live at my parents. But as you know my dad has terminal cancer so it would have been really difficult for them. The problem was not between me and my son but rather between him and my husband. We all have strong characters in the family so from time to time we butt head (figuratively of course). Let’s just say that I am always the one stretching and stretching, trying to build bridge between family members and douse the fire.

After a few days and some introspection from both parties it cooled down but I was really sad for two days. These two love each other but they both can be stubborn sometimes! Gah!

I told my son that it was normal to want to leave the nest one day but it would reassure me if he could wait till he had a job and could support himself financially.

Now all is well…till the next crisis πŸ˜€Β

As work is really tiring too I was mentally and morally exhausted by the end of the week.

So when I got the message of a blogger friend that she wanted to send me a book and make it a surprise it was a really wonderful news. Mary I got it today and IT’S JUST PERFECT! Thank you!!!!

Mary just sent me one of the books that I wanted to read for months now: The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue. I have heard great things about it!!!

Another thing that really brightened my two weeks was going to the theatre with my daughter to watch A Star Is Born with Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga. Have you seen it? Because you seriously should!

If you want to read about my *for once* review about that movie go below on my WWW Wednedsday.

Then I want to excuse myself, again, as I don’t comment every day these last weeks with all the work and stress. I am trying to go to bed early in the hope of avoiding headaches. I went to the doctor and he told me they were “tension” headaches mening: I must avoid stress . Ha!

I was so distracted these last weeks that I ordered the same book three time!!!!!! After reading Shanah and Alexandra overenthusiastic reviews *add Mel’s review to the mix* I finally ordered my copy but it seems that I already had placed it twice before in my basket…

So know I am the proud owner of three copies of The City of Brass and I was all *Oh heck! Why not make others happy now?*. I decided to give two hardback copies of the book on Instagram and will open the contest this Wednesday if you are interested.

I will make it international as I am often frustrated with the “US only”…

Last news: I have bought way too much books and even candles and posters this month!

So I am on a buying ban till end November! I was just thinking that the only way to get new books would be to win giveaways when Mary gifted me the book and I learned yesterday that I won a physical copy of Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens! I was so happy as this book is really getting a huge amount of praise and was on my TBR!!!

Pfew! Much to tell for once! So you see it’s been filled with low but also ups thanks to this incredible community and its generous members.

On the blog (click on the graphic to read the post)

Part of the reason why I did not reply to your comments or went to comment and like your post (I will catch up today, promise!) is because I am writing and scheduling many posts for the coming weeks!

First because Dani @perspectiveofawriter has invited me to write a post on her blog (to be posted on Saturday 28th), second because I will participate in Blogoween level 2 from October24th to 31st and let me tell you that some of the topics made me sweat!

Third because a fellow blogger asked me to take over her Facebook Group on Saturday 28th so I have to prepare my posts. It will be a first and I will be among authors taking over so I really feel honored.

All that while stille reading and writing reviews plus participating in my favorites meme…

Since the last two weeks I only published two reviews but I managed to read 5 books in two weeks!

I have read and reviewed Phoenix Unbound by Grace Draven (loved it) and Long Live the Beautiful Hearts by Emma Scott (adored it). I’ve also read and wrote a draft review (to be published) or Secret by Aleatha Romig, Picture Perfect Cowboy by Tiffany Reisz and Sawkill Girls (the whole book this time) by Claire Legrand! I even began A very Large Expanse of Sea by Tahere Mafi (loving it so far!).

I participated in my most favorite memes and this week we’ve had:

My top Hyped books that left me disappointed *I called it “When the Foreplay is great by sadly he does not deliver “ πŸ˜‰ “

Last Friday I entered Trisy @bobosbookbank meme and the topic was about our favorite shifter stories

By the way my excuses to Joe as I’ve been unable to post my First Impression Friday for two weeks now! I hope to resume this next Friday.

At Dani @perspectiveofawriter we were instructed to write about a character haunted by ghost or ghost like….As I don’t read horror stories I was all panicking but then I recalled having read two series with characters being ghosts whisperers!

Last but not least, just read my WWW Wednesday if you want to know why YOU SHOULD go watch A Star is Born LOL

Now on the blogosphere

There is something happening at Marie @drizzleandhurricanebooks blog as she is hosting an event letting very courageous bloggers speak about their mental problems. I think this idea is just wonderful as mental illness should not be a taboo topic. Everyone could have mental problems at some time in his or her life. We live in a stressful world, life happens and depression, burn out or other illnesses could affect many of us.

This week I am sharing with you Clara’s story about depression https://drizzleandhurricanebooks.com/2018/10/12/shattering-stigmas-my-story-with-mental-health/

That’s it for this week!

I had many to share and I hopr I did not bother you spilling my guts like that!

Do tell me all about your week now.

And thank you not only for reading this but for being so supportive and kind. You all are my breath of fresh air!

Sophie
