Happy Easter everyone!

Even if you don’t celebrate today because either you are not religious or are not christian, I wish you a wonderful and joyful day all the same!

It’s Sunday again and that means that the time has come to look into the rearview mirror and chat about my week out and on the blog!

As usual I am linking up to The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @caffeinatedreviewer

In real life

It’s been a short week as we got Friday off at work!

Honestly we are all exhausted so it was more than welcome. We also have weather that feels like summer!

It’s so gorgeous outside that I decided to clean the garden while listening to a good audiobook.

My daughter got a cold coming back from Corsica and she’s been left with fever and a sore throat for the past days. She feels now better and will be ready to resume school by Tuesday.

Now something that I mocked my hubs about: electrical mountainbike (EMBN)!

Every year he goes biking with friends in France in places like Drome or Alps or ….

This year there was a little problem on the horizon. My husband has gained lots of weight due to a burn-out and bad eating habits (hence my migration to our sofa from time to time when the snores get too loud). He stopped biking and realized he would never be able to follow his friends without dying from a heart attack!

Three days ago, he found the light!

He would ride ….an electrical mountainbike! Hourray!

Oh did I laugh my @ss off when he told me he would buy such steed! But I quickly had a forced laugh when I saw the price of such engine!!!!

After he assured me he would lose weight thanks to that modern bicycle I relented and we are now the proud and less rich owners of an EMBN. He’s used it three times so far and rediscovered muscles he did not know he possessed! 😀

Last but not least the “making candles adventure”.

It seems that I am an overachiever in every aspect of my life but that’s not a surprise!

Instead of making colored and scented candles with a simple sticker displaying the name or the book character I embarked on a deep research on how make “professional” stickers! So far as I am still waiting for my mason jars to be delivered I already bought the soy wax, the pigments, the strass, the ….

I’ve also worked to make three stickers for my first three candles: one for Javier from A Charm of Finches by Suanne Laqueur (I did seven variation of stickers and narrowed down to four); Miss Lemon Fresh from Lifel1k3 by Jay Kristoff (also three stickers but the last one has my preference) and Darlene from Forever Right Now by Emma Scott (two variations).

It took me hours to make my first sticker but I get better now.

I struggled with the colors. I wanted some color for my wax and had to “marry” the colors of the sticker all while showcasing my perception or the character in the colors!

Here are my “productions” so far (please don’t copy as it’s my own personal production and I literally sweat hours to make them!)

For Javier: you have these four stickers and after a general vote, A will be selected and accompany a black candle with silver strass on the top. Scent: probably something like sandalwood or cedar.

For Miss Fresh: the blue/green with pink has my preference. The wax will be yellow (I will try for citrus yellow but ….) with golden or silver glitter on top. Scent: a combo of lemon and grapefruit.

For Darlene: the “greener” font has my preference. The wax will be kind of mint green (hopefully) with silver glitter on top. Scent: probably lavender as I don’t have jasmine essential oil…

Note that the dimension of the logo could be altered depending of the look of the mason jar once I get them!

Let me know what you think of these please!

On the blog (click on the graphic to read the post)

I read and reviewed three books!

I seem to be in a bit of a book funk as none was five stars but I think my current read might be a faive stars!

Defy Me by Tahereh Mafi: felt like an intermission in the series. A pause delving in the character’s past to better jump into the final book. 4 stars.

To Best the Boys by Mary Weber was a delicious, entertaining and all girl power YA read! 4,5 stars.

Audiobook review of Where the Forest Meets the stars by Glendy Vanderah. Original, moving, smart! Close to five stars at 4,75 stars.

I talked about my Top 5 stars prediction for this year in Top five Tuesday.

And our weekly discussion was a little provocative as I asked if romance readers are subpar readers after one too many contemptuous reaction of a male boss hearing that I read mainly romance!

On the blogospher and quizzland!

Not many blog hopping this week SORRY as I tend to lose myself when creating (true story I even forget to eat).

Quizz (Greg I think your feminine side will have to show up today 😀  ): Epic read asks us Which YA make out scene we’d be!

That’s it for today! Now tell me all about your week! And what do you think of the stickers so far (be honest please)!

Thanks for reading!

Sophie

  1. Here’s hoping the rest of you were able to avoid your daughters cold and that she is feeling better now. 🙂 And that’s exciting that your husband is getting back into mountain biking. I’ve never been on an electric bike but that sounds like a ton of fun! And I love your stickers for your candle!

  2. So envious of your day off on Friday! My husband was off as well and I kept sending him texts throughout the day bemoaning my sad lot at being stuck at the office. LOL I just Googled the electric mountain bikes. Ha! I’d never heard of such a thing. At least he’ll be able to keep up now! 🙂 I am positively drooling over your stickers! They are sooo gorgeous, Sophie!! Over-achiever, indeed! And now I’m off to find out which YA make out scene I am… LOL

  3. As one overachiever to another, I love your candle making endeavour, and feel inspired. I might do a few more crafts this summer too. But back to you … and your labels. I still prefer A for Javier, and love the bright orange one for Lemon Fresh! Really vibrant. And yes, I prefer the green and pink combo for Darlene, it stands out better than the baby blue!

Oh, and you will have to do a post with photos when you start your production line. I want to “SEE!” what you get up too.

Meanwhile, I sympathize with poor hubby. Every year we have to lose weight in our household after 7 months of winter! It’s a struggle. 😉

    1. OK you will get a “step by step” post LOL And Alexandra you remind me of bears hybernating except they usually end up winter with lots of lost pounds!

  4. YA make out scene??? What kinda quiz is that? Ha ha kidding. Actually I’m off to go take it- I do ALL the quizzes lol. We’ll see if I’m in touch with my feminine side I guess, as you say. 🙂

And you are really diving into the candle making but I like those graphics you’re putting together. They look nice! I like “A” as well, and the greener font on that last one…

    1. Exactly what I thought Alicia! From “just” writign reviews I learned Photoshop to make graphics then I realized bookstagrams learning how to take pictures and now making bookish candles! It’s like my creativity was dormant and woke up with the blog!

  5. Yeah! I chose A and I can’t wait to see the candles when you’ve finished. I prefer your choices for the others too. They stand out more. Okay, be honest. Are you going to try that bike! LOL

    1. Thank you Laura! And I think Alexandra asked a “step by step” retelling of my adventures once I’ll be done LOL I could not try the bike as my man is much taller than me LOL

  6. Oh my goodness I am in love!!! I thought my love for Javier ran deep but fine you’ve got me beat. Lol. A is a great choice and so perfect. Happy candle and candle sticker making.
