Hi friends,
I KNOW that there is already one week gone this month but as time is flying by between Corona virus crisis, helping friends to write their book and making funko pop well, I had no time to post this!
Anyway as usual this is a tentative TBR as it will depends of:
-Some ARCs I may or may not get;
-Some book that can take a loooooong time to ship to my humble abode. Some days you’d think Belgium is lots smack in the middle of Africa for how long it takes to ship pre-orders. You’d think they’d guess that if I pre-order a book it’s because I NEED IT PRONTO!
-My mood, as simple as that!
So here are THE CHOSEN ONES (see if we share any):
The Guy in the Middle by Kate Stewart ….already read as I am posting this TBR late! Adult romance.
The Secrets We Kept by Lara Prescott …see The Guy above. Historical fiction.
Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare: probably my most awaited of the year with the one just below! I even pre-ordered a special box from Illumicrate! Fantasy YA
Chain of Gold is the first novel in a new trilogy that stars the Shadowhunters of Edwardian London.
Welcome to Edwardian London, a time of electric lights and long shadows, the celebration of artistic beauty and the wild pursuit of pleasure, with demons waiting in the dark. For years there has been peace in the Shadowhunter world. James and Lucie Herondale, children of the famous Will and Tessa, have grown up in an idyll with their loving friends and family, listening to stories of good defeating evil and love conquering all. James Herondale longs for a great love, and thinks he has found it in the beautiful, mysterious Grace Blackthorn. Cordelia Carstairs is desperate to become a hero, save her family from ruin, and keep her secret love for James hidden. When disaster strikes the Shadowhunters, James, Cordelia and their friends are plunged into a wild adventure which will reveal dark and incredible powers, and the true cruel price of being a hero…and falling in love.

Hunt Athalar is a notorious Fallen angel, now enslaved to the Archangels he once attempted to overthrow. His brutal skills and incredible strength have been set to one purpose—to assassinate his boss’s enemies, no questions asked. Twice a Wish by Pepper Winters (book two of Goddess Isle) VERY adult romance (read hawt and twisted)
“There was a monster once. A monster who bought me, controlled me, and took away my freedom.
There was a man once. A man who dealt in myth and secrets, hiding behind his mask, making me hunger and wish to know the truth.”
Eleanor Grace belongs to the man and the monster, hating them both but unable to deny that something links them. Something she doesn’t want to feel, something that traps her as surely as the sea surrounding the island where she serves.
Sully Sinclair belongs to his past and the black and white script his life has become. He views his goddesses as commodities—possessions to be treated kindly but firmly. The only problem is…Eleanor is different.
She’s jinxed him.
Cursed him.
Awakened him.
She’s a goddess with the power to ruin him.

The Seven Husbands of Evelyne Hugo by Taylor Jenkins Reid : Adult fiction
Aging and reclusive Hollywood movie icon Evelyn Hugo is finally ready to tell the truth about her glamorous and scandalous life. But when she chooses unknown magazine reporter Monique Grant for the job, no one is more astounded than Monique herself. Why her? Why now? Monique is not exactly on top of the world. Her husband has left her, and her professional life is going nowhere. Regardless of why Evelyn has selected her to write her biography, Monique is determined to use this opportunity to jumpstart her career.
Summoned to Evelyn’s luxurious apartment, Monique listens in fascination as the actress tells her story. From making her way to Los Angeles in the 1950s to her decision to leave show business in the ’80s, and, of course, the seven husbands along the way, Evelyn unspools a tale of ruthless ambition, unexpected friendship, and a great forbidden love. Monique begins to feel a very real connection to the legendary star, but as Evelyn’s story near its conclusion, it becomes clear that her life intersects with Monique’s own in tragic and irreversible ways. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is a mesmerizing journey through the splendor of old Hollywood into the harsh realities of the present day as two women struggle with what it means–and what it costs–to face the truth.
Honor Lost by Rachel Caine and Ann Aguirre : YA science fiction and conclusion of the series.

Reeling from a series of battles, Zara and her wounded band of allies are going to need a strategy before they face Lifekiller again. Zara’s street smarts may not be enough when their enemy could be anywhere, destroying civilizations and picking his teeth with the bones.
And just when it feels like she’s reached a special place in her bond with Bea and Nadim, an ex from Earth with an ax to grind comes after her with nefarious intentions. With human enemies, alien creatures, and mechanical stalkers on her tail, it’s down to the wire for Zara to save the galaxy—and the people she calls home—before the godking consumes them all.

One of Us Is Next by Karen McManus: YA mystery and …waiting for my copy to arrive!!!
The highly anticipated sequel to the New York Times bestselling thriller everyone is talking about, One of Us Is Lying! There’s a new mystery to solve at Bayview High, and there’s a whole new set of rules.
Come on, Bayview, you know you’ve missed this.
A ton of copycat gossip apps have popped up since Simon died, but in the year since the Bayview four were cleared of his shocking death, no one’s been able to fill the gossip void quite like he could. The problem is no one has the facts.
Until now.
This time it’s not an app, though—it’s a game.
Truth or Dare.
Phoebe’s the first target. If you choose not to play, it’s a truth. And hers is dark.
Then comes Maeve and she should know better—always choose the dare.
But by the time Knox is about to be tagged, things have gotten dangerous. The dares have become deadly, and if Maeve learned anything from Bronwyn last year, it’s that they can’t count on the police for help. Or protection.
Simon’s gone, but someone’s determined to keep his legacy at Bayview High alive. And this time, there’s a whole new set of rules.

I can’t wait for your review too Suzanne!
Wow, and I thought it took long enough for stuff to get here, in Canada, Sophie. By the way, that’s a great selection of titles, can’t wait to hear what you think of some of them.
I will make my way …slowly through them Alexandra!
Is shipping to you always bad? Or is it made worse by the Corona Virus? I hope you get all your books asap!
No that’s usually bad as far as pre-orders on Amazon are concerned…most of the time!
I loved One Of Us Is Next! Can’t wait to see your review when you get your copy. It does not disappoint
Fingers crossed!!!! :-)))
I started House of Earth and Blood yesterday … and might have stayed up till 2AM reading. (Plus side: I’m at the half-way point!) I found the first c. 80 pages quite overwhelming — exposition overload — but the story settled by c. page 100. And it’s AMAZING! I have no idea how we’re all going to survive the way to book 2.
* wait to book 2. (too sleep deprived to type at this point … )
Em I still need to read it! I hope to finish Chain of Gold today or tomorrow!!! The it will be onto SJM!
