Hi dear friends!

Time for our weekly chit chat and as we are done with November I will combine with the monthly wrap up!

As usual I will link to Kimberly @caffeinatedreviewer.

Let’s this show begin with “personal life”.

This week has been the most intense and tiring week at work! Not in a bad way as it was really productive and things are looking good for the future but the days were long with nearly no time to drink tea *gasp!*.

I came back home late and had only the energy to shower, eat and go to sleep!

Not much following blogs or commenting done I am afraid!

I got my reward this weekend with a shopping afternoon with my daughter where we spent way too much money on clothes but did it feel good!

And all the women reading this blog will agree that having a “little black dress” is a must have for every woman! Well my daughter needed one for her exams this year as she is in her last year of high school. She is not growing anymore so we invested in good quality.

And why stop at one dress right? Mom deserved something after her hard work week 😀

Second reward coming tonight as I have a night out with two friends and we will go to the theater!

I know I must relax now as my dad’s health is rapidly declining and I suspect very hard and difficult times ahead.

Last parting words or rather picture… someone asked for more pictures of my dog *yes Alicia that’s you* and here you’ve got a recent one.

She obviously need a serious trim but my mother booked it way too late. So now she looks like a furry snow ball.

What happened on the blog this month and this past week? Click on the graphic to read the post.

Well I have read nine books and had one DNF. Not as many as I had planned but some of these were big books!

First let’s have the DNF….

Then the disappointment with 3 stars for A Reaper at the Gate by Sabaa Tahir. I must say that I am a huge fan of this series so it hurts to give it only 3 stars!

Another 3 stars for my friend’s book Andre Undercover by Nikki Sex. Erotic thriller with many triggers!

4 stars for The Lucky Star by Jennifer L Armentrout. I hoped to give more but I think I measured this book to Obsidian and co and if Luc is a great hero he is no Daemon. Unfair? Yes.

4 stars for More Than We Can Tell by Brigid Kemmerer. Here again I wanted to give more but the heroine was not totally to my liking!

4,5 stars for Bossman by Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward. Seriously I recommend this one wholeheartedly if you want a good romcom. It’s just perfect for the genre and I had a blast reading it. I felt lighter and bubblier once I finished 😀 . Chase Parker is the perfect book boyfriend!

Now we get to my 5 stars! You will see these are totally different books yet they all got 5 stars!

The first to get 5 stars is a military romance filled with trope that I don’t like (love triangle and …no spoiler) yet it really moved me! I was a sobbing mess so many times! Know that you have scenes with torture so tread with caution! Heartbreak Warfare by Heather M Orgeron and Kate Stewart.

Second to get 5 stars is a YA book. I told you my 5 stars were diverse! Girl Made of Stars by Ashley Hering Blake is about a girl who has been raped but everyone believes the rapist. Yet this book made me ponder on what could push someone to do such a thing.

And my WINNER of the month with 5 brillant stars is also a Goodreads Awards finalist: Where the Crawdads Sings by Delia Owens. Truly brilliant!

I also have read Honor Among Thieves by Rachel Caine and Ann Aguirre but the review will be posted tomorrow!

As far as meme go this week, I also had much fun with the Top 5 Tuesday about winter reads. Once again I played with my title because at the end of my work day I try to find some humor and levity!

Winter is Coming! Give me big white wolves and curly black hair Jon Snow ….What? It is a mistake? I have to choose my top winter reads?

I posted I Heart Character one day late on Friday. We got to reuse an old prompt and I chose “Warrior Heroine” because I was just reading Honor Among Thieves and our female MC Zara Cole is just badass! Too good to pass LOL

Next week and month will be super busy as my “Blogmas” has begun since yesterday! You’ll get my daily posts of Best Books of 2018. Don’t forget if you want to play your are welcome!

In the blogosphere I loved this prompt on “Waves of Pages” about the “Do’s ” and “Don’t” in romance as this is my main genre!

Now it’s your turn! How was your week?

Thanks for reading!

Sophie

Anne – Books of My Heart

    1. Well Anne having 40 years worth of fashion is just great as you have trends coming back every ten to twenty years! So you are always trendy LOL

  2. Aww your dog’s a cutie! And I hope you enjoy your night out. 🙂 Best wishes to your dad by the way, and supportive vibes to you too…

    Have fun with Blogmas!!

  3. I spent so much money on clothes myself these past couple of weeks, but they were really good deals, so who can blame us? Oh yay for the doggy picture. I just clapped like an excited five year old. She looks like an especially adorable furry snow ball. Thanks for sharing a picture with us. Hoping to read The Kiss Quotient soon. Have a happy week!

  4. Here’s to time for tea next week! Your pooch looks so fluffy and cute. My Chow would act embarrassed when I got her trimmed. LOL And yikes! It looks like I missed a couple posts of yours. Must go see. I miss buying clothes. I don’t go anywhere special to need dressy things. Sounds like you had fun and enjoy your night out:)

  5. I am still not at 100% as I think I have more than just a migraine going on.. ohhh I feel crappy. But, I am trying to get some commenting and school work done today and not sleep it away. I have a hard time knowing the books because our covers are different (I hate that). But, I want to get to Jenn’s – The Darkest Star and since I haven’t read the Obsidian series I should be ok. Have a great week and I will be stopping by every day to link up my Blogmas! It’s a bunch of fun and I have till the 5th done already. I have to get working on the rest but one day at a time!

  6. I can’t even imagine running a blog and reading/reviewing books while still working at a regular job. I started all of that after I retired…but I did read over the years, even while working. It was a way to relieve the stress.

I’ve heard good things about Where the Crawdads Sing.

Enjoy going to the theater…and your dog is adorable. Thanks for visiting my blog.

  7. I don’t know where you find the time let alone the energy to go to work, look after your family, and read and blog! Throw in a dog as well, you’re a hero! ☺️
