Hello dear friends,

Today is the first day of our March challenge with Angy @collectors ofbookboyfriends!!!

If you want in on the fun you are welcome! Just find one author fitting the daily topic and use the #BookAuthorChallenge so that we can tack and like you posts.

Topic of today: Angsty!

OK confession time I don’t do angst well.

Some angst yes too much no. I am too chicken maybe or do get frustrated as in heart galloping, blood pressure rising and fingers itching to cheat and just have a sneak peek at the end. Just to know if there is a HEA and breathe again.

Cliffhangers I can do. They are terribly frustratings but happen only by the end of the book so I manage but Angst with a capital “A” no!

So I had to dig deep and far to find my author today as I did not want an horror author or mystery and… I found her!

Today ladies and gents my winner is…..

Rebecca Donovan!

She is the author of Breathing series (Reason to Breathe, Barely Breathing and Out of Breath). This is a fantastic series but so intense and angsty that I still have to read the end!

If that’s not a good reason to win I don’t know what would be.

Synopsis of the first book:

“No one tried to get involved with me, and I kept to myself. This was the place where everything was supposed to be safe and easy. How could Evan Mathews unravel my constant universe in just one day?”

In the affluent town of Weslyn, Connecticut, where most people worry about what to be seen in and who to be seen with, Emma Thomas would rather not be seen at all. She’s more concerned with feigning perfection while pulling down her sleeves to conceal the bruises – not wanting anyone to know how far from perfect her life truly is. Without expecting it, she finds love. It challenges her to recognize her own worth – but at the risk of revealing the terrible secret she’s desperate to hide.

Reason to Breathe is an electrifying page turner from start to finish, a unique tale of life-changing love, unspeakable cruelty, and one girl’s fragile grasp of hope.“

I read it pre-Goodreads when I did not write reviews but what was the worst to me was the self destructive path the heroine chose to follow. She sabotaged every chance she had at being happy and each time I was “Oh no! Oh no! She won’t do it! She did it!” insert hurling my book against a wall (I did not have a Kindle it was prehistoric times 😉

Some quote to help you understand:

“She can’t keep hurting you and using you
like an emotional punching bag. It’s messed up. How many times do you have to forgive her before she destroys you?”
Rebecca Donovan, Barely Breathing

Reading the author’s bio you would never guess it!

Optimism seeps from every pore of my body. I truly believe that what’s supposed to happen… will! In that regard, I don’t know how to give up; it’s not part of my biological make up.

I’m a passionate (and some would say, overly enthusiastic) person. I learn by doing (and have been burned more times that I’d like to admit), but I will always throw my entire self into whatever I do – fail or succeed.

I think this is evident when I write, leaving nothing behind and spilling it all out on the pages. I give it all to my readers – love it or hate it.

The path I’m on is very often my own, veering off the beaten path at the sight of something more interesting or captivating, getting caught in the vines and thorns in order to experience the beauty and intrigue others often pass by. And I always meet the most interesting people along the way…”

Now do tell me who is your angsty author?

Thanks for reading!

Sophie

  1. Great topic and review, Sophie! I haven’t read Rebecca Donovan before, but she sounds like a good one to check out. I actually really like angsty, but I have to be in the mood for it. Probably Mia Sheridan is one of my top ‘angsty’ writers. Have a great weekend! =D

  2. I’m not good at thinking on my feet either Sophie! But I’m so glad you shared this book… I enjoy when a character gets out of a bad situation FINALLY! These look good! I’ll have to check out this challenge, it sounds fun! (Though I’m not sure who I’d pick for angst author?! It’s a hard one…)
