Hi friends,
It’s Sunday! Time to chat about what happened in my life this week and catch up with your posts and comments!!! As usual I am linking up with The Sunday Post hosted by Kimberly @caffeinatedreviewer
In my private life first
Sorry if I am posting late but I do so many things these days!!! I take pictures for my bookstagrams (takes about 4 hours a week), read many many ARCs (because of course some were delayed, some published sooner than expected and some were …totally unexpected!). Result: my TBR is looking like a huge bottleneck right now! But these are luxe problems right?
So work has been kicking my butt with long, very long days filled to the brim with five to seven meetings a day! I come back home exhausted and try to catch up on sleep so, again, blog hopping is difficult. But the work is very interesting so there is that! Just bad for blogging LOL
One of the big news this week: last week I told you that I got my first physical ARC ever in three years right? Well this week I got an “unrequested” finish copy from a big publishing house! Harper Random House sent me A Long Petal of Sea by Isabel Allende and I had asked for nothing! Granted for three years now I told them that I accepted spontaneous book mail but…they never followed! AND I have learned from another traditionally published author that I should get a physical ARC from her enxt book due to be published in May!Â
I guess my lucky streak won’t go on indefinitely but I am enjoying it right now 😀Â
Second big news, and also one of the reasons why I was so scarce blog hopping and replying: I made my first custom funko pop! I built King Nikolai Lantsov from the Grishaverse universe (King of Scars) from two “mainstream” funkos. One was Spiderman and the other was Captain Salazar (see the pictures below).
I will write a post one day on how I did it but let’s say that I had some surprises along the way, among others Spiderman’s skin tone being way too dark for blond Nikolai and I had to paint the whole skin in a skin tone (seven extra thin layers of paint to make sur no brush mark would be visible!!!). The result can be seen below and if it took me about 12 hours I am very happy with the result (gotta congratulate myself sometimes, that’s good for my ego 😆 ). See his “coat of arms” on his back? That’s about the size of a chickpea…

I read five books but reviewed two. Hopefully some reviews will be published next week (I am so behind!).
The Queen’s Assasin by Melissa de La Cruz was part of a blog tour (3 stars)
The Life that Mattered by Jewel E Ann was a 4,5 stars and a “I NEED THE SEQUEL NOW” kind of book! I even wrote in my review that Jewel is evil LOL.
In the Top 5 Tuesday I got to talk about hyped books that disappointed me.
See I am posting less as I had said at the beginning of the year, four times a week with The Sunday Post included but it suits me better with my hectic work life! I hope to post more this month as I have ideas for a discussion post, I want to explain how I made my funko AND we have our Next Book Boyfriend event coming when I am hosting one post from Emma Scott and add two posts of my own!
On the blogosphere and in the literary world
A quiz! Epic Reads asks “Could You Get Away With Murder?” Click on the graphic below to take the test!
I told you that I had no time to really blog hop a lot this week (except here and there at the coffee machine or at lunch) so no links but some news that made me sad and angry!
C.V. Wyk, author of Blood and Sand just informed us that the publishing house had decided not to publish the sequel! And I am so so so sad! Because I loved that book! It was kind of an underdog book but honestly I could not wait to read about what would happen to Attria and to know if Xhantus was really dead! Now I’ll never know … 😥Â
If you are interested in reading my review for that book, click on the graphic below (who knows, if many people buy it maybe they’ll reconsider?).
That’s it!!!!
Now time to let me know how your week was and to finally blog hop and prepare one more post (hopefully).
Thanks for reading!

OMG YOUR FUNKO IS AMAZING!!
Thank you so much Jen!!
I had never heard of Funkos until you mentioned them, but they’re cute! Are they made from wax? I love his hair!
They are made of rubber and plastic Jacquie 😉 And it’s all the rage among geeks LOL
Hooray for another physical arc. That’s exciting. And I, like Sam, thought you were having the Funko made… not that you were piecing it together yourself. Nice job! I’m convinced there’s nothing you can’t do! 🙂
Hahaha I love your faith in me Tanya!!! Thank you <3 <3 <3
That is some very impressive work you did with that Funko! I thought you were just designing it and having it made. I didn’t know you were crafting and painting it. Very nice! Congrats on all the book love, too.
Thank you Sam! That’s an unexpected side effect of blogging! It awoke my dormant artistic ctreak ;-)))
Congratulations on the physical ARC!!! That has to be sooooo satisfying! And what an impressive custom funko!!!! 😮
Thank you so much Lashaan!!!! Yes it was very satsifying!
I don’t know how you do so much! I struggle sometimes but the blogging world is my escape and I plan to continue to be a part of it for as long as I can! I love your Funko. Amazing job! And way to go with another physical ARC. I love spontaneous book mail too:)
Well Laura honestly, I don’t know either LOL I guess I am kind of hyperactive or something like that!
Hey, congrats on getting another physical book. And hope that starts a trend. And got to admire your skill making the funky guy! That’s so creative of you, Sophie!
Thank you so much Alexandra!!!
Your funky pop is pretty terrific!
Congrats on the additional ARCs, I hope you enjoy them.
Wishing you a great reading week
