Hello dear friends,

Last Friday I discovered that my friend Joe @Storey of Stories launched a brand new meme called “First Impression”.

It will be a meme where you talk about a book that you JUST STARTED! Maybe you’re only two sentences in the book, a chapter or two , maybe a little farther.  The goal is to  give a few impressions and predict what you’ll think by the end.  It will be fun to go back to this post once you’ll have finished the book! Did you think you’d love it and ended up hating it? Or did you think you’d hate it and wound up loving it? Or were you right all along?

The book I’ve just started as in today’s morning is an advanced reading copy of All THe Little Lights by Jamie McGuire.

Synopsis

The first time Elliott Youngblood spots Catherine Calhoun, he’s just a boy with a camera, and he’s never seen a sadder and more beautiful sight. Both Elliott and Catherine feel like outcasts, yet they find an easy friendship with each other. But when Catherine needs him most, Elliott is forced to leave town.

Elliott finally returns, but he and Catherine are now different people. He’s a star high school athlete, and she spends all her free time working at her mother’s mysterious bed-and-breakfast. Catherine hasn’t forgiven Elliott for abandoning her, but he’s determined to win back her friendship…and her heart.

Just when Catherine is ready to fully trust Elliott, he becomes the prime suspect in a local tragedy. Despite the town’s growing suspicions, Catherine clings to her love for Elliott. But a devastating secret that Catherine has buried could destroy whatever chance of happiness they have left.

My first impression

I am two chapters in the book and so far I think it’s cute and sweet and a little sad.

Cute but sad as we begin on a scene with Elliott in a tree with his brand new camera spying on Catherine burying her dog. She is young and crying of course.

Sweet because later on he’ll meet her when she began high school. It’s a difficult moment for her as her dad lost his job and her mom is fighting with him. Elliott will ask her to have an ice cream and he’ll be super sweet with her defending her when confronted to the local bullies.

I think…that I will love it. My predicted rating is 4,5 stars. I will have some angsty moments, some heartbreak but as I love childhood sweethearts and noble heroes I think my prediction is a good one!

Now it’s your turn!

Do tell me your first impression.

Happy Friday and thanks for reading!

Sophie

  1. I hope your predictions will come true, Sophie! I actually do that a lot when I start reading, I try to guess what I’ll end up rating the book. In many cases it changes though lol

  2. I requested this one as soon I saw it was by Jamie McGuire. I haven’t read anything from her since her Beautiful Disaster series. I can’t wait to see your thoughts on it as you continue reading!
