Now, on to my book boyfriend!

This time I have chosen a dashing and birlliant young man: Thomas Cresswell!

I don’t know if you have read the Stalking Jack the Ripper series by Kerri Maniscalco but a huge part of my fun was reading about Thomas elucidating murders thanks to his outstanding mind!

He has a formidable deductive mind, rivaling that of the famous Sherlock Holmes.

Coming from a good and wealthy family, he is very cocky. Handsome he lives for infuriating Audrey Rose. He truly loves having a rise out of her, teasing and taunting her mercilessly.

β€œThomas smiled at my eye roll, puffing his chest up and standing with one foot proudly resting on a chair as if posing for a portrait. β€œI don’t blame you, I am rather attractive. The tall, dark hero of your dreams, swooping in to save you with my vast intellect. You should accept my hand at once.”
― Kerri Maniscalco,Β Stalking Jack the Ripper

He admires not only her beauty but her mind too and by pushing her, she is forced to raise to the occasion.

In the first book, these two began as rivals but Audrey Rose could not help be fascinated by Thomas, like I was!

β€œWithout lifting his head from his own journal, he said, β€œNot having any luck figuring me out, then? Don’t worry, you’ll get better with practice. And, yes”—he grinned wickedly, eyes fixed on his paperβ€”β€œyou’ll still fancy me tomorrow no matter how much you wish otherwise. I’m unpredictable, and you adore it. Just as I cannot wrap my massive brain around the equation of you and yet adore it.”
― Kerri Maniscalco,Β Stalking Jack the Ripper

He also is a descendant of Dracula! Adding a new shine to his already irresistible personality πŸ˜€

Later on in the series, he’ll prove that he has the utmost respect for Audrey Rose and will see her as his equal. In a century where women were seen as breeding stock, only good for taking care of the kids and the house, you just have to admire his modern mind.

He truly wanted to be Audrey Rose’s partner and her choice. Never deciding for her or imposing his view, even if he loved her to death and it killed him to stay silent, let her make her decision, when she was attracted to another man.

β€œIf you wish to go, I’ll never make you stay. I might not do and say the proper thing all the time, but I do know that I love you enough to set you free.”
― Kerri Maniscalco,Β Escaping From Houdini

And below his cocky exterior and outrageous banter, he hid a vulnerability left by his father’s contempt for him. It borke my heart to see Thomas doubting his self worth sometimes, doubting that he was worthy of Audrey Rose’s love.

Lats but not least, he’ll always have Audrey Rose’s back and will follow her in mad adventures, being at sea or in secret tunnels under a castle in Romania, facing death more than once.

β€œFocus on how handsome I am. How much you want to press your lips against mine. And definitely do not panic, Wadsworth. If you scream, I’m going to join you, and then we’re both in trouble.”
― Kerri Maniscalco,Β Hunting Prince Dracula

I was so enamored with that hero that I even made a funny reels, imagining how Thomas Cresswell would solve the mystery of the disappearing sock when you empty out the washing machine πŸ˜€

Β

Now did I convince you about how worthy he is?

Thanks for reading!

Sophie

  1. A million times yes! I always see texts, in our blog chat, about Thomas Cresswell. Arielle and Chelsea are obsessed with him too! I’m such a scaredy cat though, so that’s why I haven’t picked these books up yet. But I really want to!!

  2. Fun post, Sophie, especially as I’m a big Thomas Cresswell fan too. Oh and I saw your comment on my blog. Sharon is one of my best friends who is also a book lover. She doesn’t have her own blog so I invited her to guest post on mine a couple times a month. πŸ™‚
