Hi dear friends,

Can you believe October has ended already? Time is really flying by when you have fun! So today I am writing my wrap-up and linking to The Sunday Post from Kimberly @caffeinatedreviews with a weekly recap.

First on personal life this week

I began my holiday! It was so awaited and I really needed a break. It began on a bang with a girls night out going to the restaurant and then watching Bohemian Rhapsody (see review below).

I am planning on resting, reading, blogging and having long walks. Going to the swimming pool too.

Enjoy life and a slower tempo!

Second what happened on the blog in October and the past week? (click on the graphic to read the post)

Books read and reviewed or to be reviewed.

I read eight books in October, sticking to my average two books a week since I started blogging.

Going from good to very good ….

Picture Perfect Cowboy by Tiffany Reisz was an erotic kinky fairy tale with a cowboy instead of a knight. 4,25 stars.

Read but not reviewed yes: More Than We can Tell by Brigid Kemmerer. It will be a 4,25 stars too.

Phoenix Unbound by Grace Draven was really good! 4,5 stars because I wanted more of the romance. Slow burn.

Secret by Aleatha Romig is Aleatha Romig going back to her dark business. I had fun writing the review as a quizz about the alpha main character! 4,5 stars

Fall by Kristen Callihan was ..excellent! And a surprise as it broached heavy topics like depression but had a lot of humor too! 4,5 stars. I recommend it!

I have three favorites this month as they are all very different (YA, Adult romance, Adult M/M) yet excellent.

The first is an MM romance, prequel of a book that literally destroyed me at the beginning of this year. The Silver Cord was as stunning and shocking as the Silver Cage. 5 stars!

Long Live the Beautiful Hearts by Emma Scott was the much awaited sequel of Bring Down the stars. Epic. Heartwrenching. 6 stars!

A Very Large Expanse of Sea by Tahereh Mafi was …eye opening! Brilliant. This is why I read! 5 stars!

As for this week alone, I read and reviewed a huge book. One that I was awaiting for more than one year now. Kingdom of Ash by Sarah J Maas was brilliant. The perfect conclusion to this series. 5 stars all along! I had so much fun and work creating the teasers!

October was the month of my first review of a movie! I usually don’t do it because I don’t go very often to the theater and because I have never been “pushed” to review them before but here I just HAD TO!!!! A Star is Born was excellent, brilliant and for once I could not stay silent LOL. I reviewed this one in a WWW Wednesday.

This week you got a second movie review as Bohemian Rhapsody was fantastic! I chose Freddie Mercury to illustrate my unique character in the weekly “I heart Characters” meme.

October was Blogoween’s month and I posted daily for eigth days.

I had so much fun but some posts were real challenges!

First challenge about books that left me emotionally crippled! If you are looking for really heartwrenching books, just have a look and I bet you’ll find your next fix 😀

This other post was a real challenge but so much fun! I had to think about what a Halloween Hunger Games would be. I enrolled my dream team alias my kids because I really was clueless as how to interpret this topic.

Who would I want to resurrect? Here I got to speak about all the death I found totally unfair and unnecessary in famous stories. Let’s have a peek and tell me if you agree with me 😉

The next one is about my favorite villains! And I wanted to avoid the obvious and well known to give you other ones deserving your admiration! Will you recognize some of them? Have you read their books?

This one was really a challenge as I had to imagine a quiz about what spooky creature you could be! And as I love challenges I wanted to build a quiz like you see in BuzzFeed! You know when you click on your answer and the next question appears on your screen? With an algorithme behind to sort the answers…. Don’t be shy, take the quiz!

And this one was about my fictional world of choice to make Halloween happen!

If I was ever trapped in a haunted house, who would I want with me? And who would you want with you?

This last post is all about evil I want to ward off or rather I chose to speak of all my pet peeves in the bookish world. This is where I let lose and rant LOL

I participated in my favorite memes and you can find some of them here below.

My favorites and the ones getting many likes were:

Favorite tropes to read in books! And I illustrated less known books.

Top magical books for me and I rooted for the under dogs here! You won’t find the traditionally hapyed and obvious books.

And Calendar Girl was about my favorite witch in books! Again I wanted to highlight a less known series: Hex Hall.

Now this week on the blogosphere I choose to highlight Kelly’s post about blogger etiquette: do you have to follow everyone back? Comment back all the time? Etc.

https://justanotherbookinthewall.wordpress.com/2018/11/02/lets-talk-about-blogger-etiquette-the-dos-and-donts-of-engaging-in-the-community/

That’s it for October! I will post a TBR and most awaited books the week to come but in the meantime tell me:

How was October for you? And How was your week? Watched, read anything interesting?

Thanks for reading!

Sophie

  1. I also really enjoyed Phoenix Unbound. I liked the slow burn though. I am buying and trying to read Thrones of Glass but haven’t gotten very far yet. Have a great week – relaxing is good! Anne – Books of My Heart

  2. Sounds like you had a great week! I would love to review movies as well but problem is I don’t watch any movies October was really busy for me since I was posting everyday! With all energy drained, I decided to take a mini-hiatus to sort myself out Oh, and I love your blogoween posts!

  5. You had an amazing reading month. Lots of stars up there. That’s what I like to see, people enjoying the books they read. I hope you have a wonderful and restful holiday!

  6. Loved the opening Quote on your blog-so true! Blogging for eight days sounds fun. I did the ABC challenge and that was so hard, and I’m someone to take short cuts on a daily basis so I usually end up doing half assed jobs. Funny one writer wrote a story on what is considered half assed. #sundaypost

  7. I’ve been enjoying your posts. Don’t think I missed any! LOL October was so busy and November looks like more of the same. I plan on slacking off in December. It’ll be here before we know it. Have a lovely time doing what you enjoy!
