Today is Sunday time to look back in the rearview mirror and talk about my week . I am linking up to the Sunday Post hosted for years by Kimberly@caffeinatedreviewer .

Fisr thing first…

Happy New Year! I hope 2023 will treat you well my friends!

In my private life

Last week, I didn’t post a Sunday post because I simply was too exhausted . The last month of the year is always particularly brutal and I ended up every day completely exhausted.

That’s why I didn’t reply to comments for days and that I blog hopped sporadically!

But the good news is that now I am on holiday and I will have time to finally visit your blogs and chat with you all!

Our Christmas was a quiet but very enjoyable one with our kids and our two moms as our dad died years ago.

This week, I had an amazing time as my cousins from my mom’s side had organized a cousin’s gathering at a restaurant. We had a blast!

With COVID we hadn’t seen each other like that and it was so good to be able to talk and share souvenirs and great food. I was the only one working the day after and was decided to leave early but time flew by and we ended up closing the restaurant.

Well worth the fatigue the day after in front of my computer LOL.

And yesterday, I stayed with my husband and we had a TV marathon, beginning with Maverick and ending with… Top Gun. Out of order, I know.

I couldn’t help but think that Tom Cruise aged much better than Val Kilmer!

As is tradition now, I will post some reels that I did these last weeks if you are interested.

The first one is when it’s Christmas and you want to hide from the family to read 😉

Another one about sequels that I really enjoyed reading.

And the last one is what I say to people who wants me to go out on Christmas Eve instead of …staing in and reading a book.

On the blog this week

Well I posted mainly about my Best Reads of 2022 except…for the book that WOWED me!

Basically my BEST READ of 2022 !

And that’s because I got a message from Jetpack telling me that if I wanted to post more than 30 posts and be featured on WordPress Reader I had to upgrade to a paying plan. What I didn’t want to…

So today I present you with my favorite book of 2022.

And my 2022 winner is the RED RISING TRILOGYand in particular MORNING STAR.

All the stars, again, and I died several times while reading!

Breathtaking!

That’s the word that comes to mind when talking about the conclusion to the (first part) of the trilogy!
I am certain that my blood pressure must have been through the roof several times while listening to that book!

A friend (yes Justine, that’s you) had warned me “bring your tissues because Pierce Brown is relentless”. And she was right!

At chapter 58/59, I sent a message to my buddy read group screaming “I am afraid!!! I can’t read anymore!”
Of course those whom this was a reread just cackled evilly at my predicament! 😊

Pierce Brown took me for a spin there and when I say I must have died several times well of course that’s figurative but not so far from the truth. I was simply blown away when I discovered Pierce Brown’s Machiavellianism !!!

Again, we get that ragtag crew of friends from all colors with Sevro, Victra, Ragnar, Mustang, and many other old and new characters!

I should have read Red Rising in January with my buddy readers. Instead, we are now January 14th and I have finished red Rising, Golden Son and Morning Star…I think it says it all.

Now I will go blog hop and answer all your comments! Have a great Sunday!

Thanks for reading.

Sophie

  1. Happy new year, Sophie! I hear ya about the last month of the year and this time both Christmas and New Years also fell on a Sunday so no worries about missing a few updates. Glad you had a great time with family!

  2. I’ve been tired by life lately too! Hope you get some well needed rest. I loved the new Top Gun movie. Glad to hear you had a nice holiday with family. 🙂

  3. I am glad you were finally able to get some down time after all that busy-ness. I am glad you were able to spend time with family! We had to downsize our plans because of illness, sadly, but we still had a nice Christmas. Since it was just my husband, daughter, my mom, and I for the holiday, there was no sneaking off and reading, but I would have liked to. LOL

Thank you for sharing your favorite read of the year! I haven’t tried The Red Rising Trilogy but hopefully someday. I hope you have a Happy New Year!

  4. Happy New Year, Sophie! Wishing you and your family all the best in 2023. I’m glad to hear you had such a nice family gathering after so many years of Covid being in the way.

  5. I can relate to December being so hectic. My Nov thru mid-December is that way and it truly is exhausting. I do what I have to do and let everything else slide. The cousin outing sounds like fun!

  6. Merry Christmas and Happy New Year, Sophie! I’m glad you had a lovely time at your cousins gathering! 🙂
    Enjoy your time off work.

  7. I own the Red Rising trilogy but haven’t read them. I started Red Rising and then it was scary and sad. But I will get to them one day. I’m glad to hear you had some nice family time for your holiday. Happy New Year and happy reading Sophie.

  8. HAPPY NEW YEARS! I hope you have a wonderful holiday, and get some rest! I do agree that Tom Cruise has aged so well, probably all the action films he has done haha who knows. Happy that you were able to spend time with family.

  9. For me, the holidays are all about being with family. How wonderful that your cousin was able to organize something and that covid didn’t keep you apart this year. I remember seeing Top Gun in theatre. I have not seen Maverick, but I heard it’s good.
