For weeks now I entered what my friend Joe @Storey of Stories imagined as brand new meme called “First Impression”.
It’s a meme where you talk about a book that you JUST STARTED! Maybe you’re only two sentences in the book, a chapter or two , maybe a little farther. The goal is to give a few impressions and predict what you’ll think by the end. It will be fun to go back to this post once you’ll have finished the book! Did you think you’d love it and ended up hating it? Or did you think you’d hate it and wound up loving it? Or were you right all along?
This week I began Mogul by Katy Evans
Synopsis
“A brand new contemporary romance from New York Times, Wall Street Journal, and USA Today bestselling author Katy Evans.
He’s my most delicious secret.
The hot Suit I had a one-night stand with one evening.
I didn’t know anything about him, not even his name.
Only that we shared a taxi, and he was staying at the hotel where I worked.
We met in room 1103. Where he commanded not only my body but my soul.
The next day he was gone and I only had a memory of him.
I could still taste his kisses, feel his demanding touch.
I searched for him for months. Daydreaming about him. Wondering if I’d ever find him.
Until the day I find myself staring face to face with his jeweled black eyes again.
He says lets keep it casual, and my heart knows that falling for this workaholic in a three-thousand-dollar suit is off the table.
Because he has a secret. One that’s a deal breaker for me.
My Suit has a name.
Ian Ford.
And this is our story. “
I am 55% in the book by now but honestly when I began I was all “What the heck? She is a hussy!!!”. You see the female character is concierge at a four stars hotel and when the guy from room 1103 phones telling her he “wants her panty less in five minutes” she answers “Certainly sir” and …you guess it.
She had met the guy barely a few hours before! So I thought that I would get some erotic but was not expecting emotions really or others than heated ones LOL.
On the other hand I chastised my thoughts as they were sexists. If it had been a man sleeping mere hours after meeting a girl I would have only thought that he was a womanizer but not as judgey as the woman.
What’s wrong with me??????
I am a woman so I am all for equal rights and all still I carry clichés in my head.
Bad, bad Sophie.
My prediction at that time in the story? 3,5 stars max.
Meet me next week to check!
Now last week’s was Atticus by Sawyer Bennett.
Past prediction: Atticus chapters 5 stars, Hazel 3 stars.
Result? I still have to publish the review but it’s been 5 stars!!! Important character’s growth and cuteness overload. But not syrupy just emotional and tender.
What are you reading this Friday and how do you “feel” your read so far?
Thanks for reading!
Hahaha. Love your ‘first impression’ review and self-analysis ;). Will look out for the full version!
Thank you Nina!!!
I would have ‘equal opportunity’ thoughts about a man and a woman crawling into bed mere hours of meeting each other. All while knowing it was NOT even my business. LOL This is an author I always wanted to try, but now that so much time has passed and I’ve not read her, I have seen some reviews that make me think she may not be for me. Have you read anything else from her? I hope you end up enjoying this one! 🙂
Hi Angie!yes I have read Real and I loved it!. I loved it even better than Mogul as there was an angsty side absent from Mogul. Mogul was a sweet and hot read really enjoyable 😉
I’ll be reading both of these soon..can’t wait!!
Well I finished Mogul! Sweet and hot LOL
