Hi dear friends!

Time for a little weekly chit chat about how my week went and what happened on the blog. As usual I will link it up with @CaffeinatedReviewer.Β

I am writing this post on a Saturday as I want to be free on Sunday to read and read and read and ….because my second most anticipated reads of 2018 has arrived!

Long live to Kingdom of Ash!

Private life first

This week has been really intense at work especially on Thursday as we had very very important persons visiting us at work. They wanted to meet me alongside some fellow colleagues. Everything had to happen in English which is not our mother tongue. I am used to write and speak English but not in my professional environment anymore. It was six very intense hours and I ended my day totally whipped!

I went back home, did not even blog *gasp!* and was in bed at 9:30 PM. I slept more than 8 hours straight!

But my boss was very happy with me so there is that!

I will have three weeks off work beginning in the middle of next week and that makes me very happy!!!

On the blog (click on the graphic to read the post)

Well I reviewed three books but already have read four books.

Picture Perfect Cowboy by Tiffany Reisz is a kinky fairytale. Erotic at its best. Very well written.

Fall was deeply moving and fun! It tackles heavy topics like depression and addiction with great justess.

A Very Large Expanse of Sea is one of my bests for this year. Eye opening. Truly a must read!

The last book I’ve read but not reviewed yet is “More Than We Can Tell” by Brigid Kemmerer. Review incoming next week hopefully!

This week the fun has begun!!!! I am participating in Blogoween Level 2 with a post each day till the 31st.

Let me tell you that some made me sweat!

The first day I speak about books that left me crippled! I love it as I get to rave about really amazing books.

The second day was hard! It was Hunger Game Halloween themed! How the heck should I interpret this prompt??? Well it ended being a real fun, just have a peek πŸ˜€Β

On day three I made a quiz about “What spooky creature are you”. As I love a challenge and learning new things, I wanted to make it a real quiz like Buzfeed. I am pleased with how it turned out.

On day four it was Toil and Trouble. Villain themed. And I just love gushing about a “good” villain.

I didn’t forget my Top 5 Tuesday! This week’s topic was magical books but I wanted to make you discover some “underdogs”. Some books that I’ve loved deeply and crying for your attention! If you are curious and want to discover something new, be my guest!

Of course you also have my traditional WWW Wednesday.

Pfew that’s it for this week! Oh and know that tonight I will take over a group on Facebook for the first time ever! I also had to plan the posts. And I also wrote aΒ  post about romance in YA books as Dani @perspectiveofawriter asked me to be her guest today! I am really excited as it should be published today! Keep your eyes open.

I also nearly forgot!

There is an international giveaway running on my IG account till the end of November! I am giving away two hardcopies of The City of Brass (two winners) as I had mistakenly ordered three copies!!!!

On the blogosphere

ERK on @the confuzzledreader wrote an excellent post about “things YA stories need more of”! https://theconfuzzledreader.wordpress.com/2018/10/25/5-things-ya-contemporary-novels-need-more-of/

Now do tell me all about your week!

Thanks for reading.

  1. Woohoo ! all that matters is that your boss was happy – I can relate to that aswell ! I used to speak english all the time at the sex shop and now at the coffee shop most of our customers are french ; as we are more in the french part of the “double town”. Sometimes I’ll say my tongue kind of twist a little xD ahah or I cant remember which language I served them in prior.. oops.

I am SO glad I was able to skip the Halloween hunger game one ahaha I would had NO. idea. what to even do with that .. don’t help I never read or even watched it ..

  2. I didn’t get Kingdom of Ash yet. It’s a series, right? I guess it will be one that I will have to start just haven’t yet. I know a lot of people wanted to read it. I am behind the loop on that one tho. I am still reading Sadie and just want to cry. I can’t focus on any other book.

    1. Yes Mary it’s a series, a fantastic series!!! And I know Sadie is unique and really hard to read sometimes.

  3. I hope you loved Kingdom of Ash!! πŸ˜€ and Congrats on the work thing going well despite it being tiring and stressful!! I will go check out your IG giveaway right now!

  4. I didn’t know you could get the paperback UK edition??! At least it looks like you have the paperback. That’s a bummer because all my other books in the series are UK paperback except for Tower of Dawn. Anyway, I like the UK version more but Chapters didn’t have it so where did you get it? The book depository? It was just released last week though.

    1. Jackie I got it from Amazon.fr. I order my “physical books” either on Amazon.fr (.com is too expensive with taxes for Paperback) or Bookdepository. Book Depository is just fantastic because you can order all kind of covers on one site!

  5. Yay for 3 weeks off! Hope you enjoy them and get lots of reading time. πŸ™‚

Glad the Mafi book is good. And I love the Blogoween posts!

  6. I cannot imagine having to impress someone at work while not even speaking my native language! That is so impressive! (I can only speak 1 language, so anyone who is multi-lingual always impresses me!). Hopefully you enjoy your 3 weeks off-I’m jealous!

    1. Thank you Samantha! I do. And I cannot imagine teaching to many unruly teenagers so ..to each his own LOL

  7. And here I never knew English was a second language for you! Sounds like Thursday was a long day indeed. Hope this weekend has made up for it… and that you found plenty of reading time! So envious up your upcoming time off! And I’m looking forward to your review of More Than We Can Tell.

    1. Hahaha Tanya I am happy that I fooled you! It means my English is good LOL And I hope to write my review before the next weekend as right now I am engrossed in Kingdom of Ash which is huge! 980 pages…

    1. Well Kristen this is high praise here! You not guessing just …wow :-))) And I am still reading the book as it has 980 pages!!!!

  8. As always, you write an engaging write up of your week, Sophie. And I understand about the work situation, and having to do things in your second language. I’m still woefully inadequate in French, but have to navigate it on a daily basis, which always provides someone, somewhere with a laugh at my expense. πŸ˜‰

  9. I think a day set aside for a special book is always in order. LOL I had several intense days at work and felt beat when I got home too. Sure have enjoyed all of your posts this week. I don’t know how you find the time to write them as your sure put work into what you share and make it so fun. Enjoy your read today:)

    1. Well Laura when I am at the end of the day my brain is kind of freewheeling and I come up with my most creative posts LOL Thank you for your praise!
